I hope you get this together. We had a pretty nice one out last year. If you need to give the reigns over to Griff, she did A LOT for me last year..

Also I think these pictures need some more thought consideration

They are cut off car shots? not very clean (and i use this term loosely since its not supposed to be) "professional" shots.
1/4 of a a bumper missing? the 1st foot of a car?! I think this could be better..

and get those missing submissions!

(Malpaso, thats a great pic! you always turn out for the calender )

If this is going to be a good calendar you need A LOT more submissions. You should have atleast 3 options for every month that would be voted on.

I agree that we should have a lot more submissions before we try to get a calendar in print. There are so many nice cars on this forum and so many people have posted calendar pictures in threads. We should wait for more submissions prior to making it official.

Okay so I'm assuming you're going to continue on with this since you haven't responded to my post about picking it up. Cool... let me know though if you need me to do anything.


As a side note - having done calendars before (and having worked in publishing for several years) I agree that there needs to be WAY more submissions. Looking at some of them, I can already see that at least 1 that I looked at isn't print quality. Additionally, I strongly disagree with anyone specifically submitting their images for the cover shot. I think all of the images should be given equal consideration and personally, the cover image should be voted on by the members here. As it stands, with only one image submitted specifically for cover consideration, that means it'll be on the cover simply because none others were submitted. Personally and professionally, I don't think that image is worthy of a cover. That's just my opinion though.

i would love to design a cover for this but my graphic design studio class is killing me with work. and i agree that a couple of the submission arent calendar quality.

oh and im not complaining but my image was in raw quality and was 3888x2xxx and now it has been reduced. why is that? im pretty sure my email didnt scale it down

Maybe you sent me the wrong image? I've just checked and I definately have a .jpg from you - It is definately 1944x1294. If you have a higher resolution version then we can swap it out - it isn't a problem. I know others have emailed me lower resolution images and said in their emails that they have higher resolution available if their photo gets picked.

Everyone, please do check all the details listed including credits and resolutions and let me know of any errors or omissions.

Thanks for the offers of help, Griffgirl. Just a reminder to everyone that while I can get these printed myself, I would prefer that someone else take over once the finalists are announced as per my original post.



In my original post I asked for multi-car shots for the cover. I disagreed with any one member being represented on the cover - I felt that 6gc.net was a community and so it would be nice to have a community shot. So far, only one member has bothered to submit a multi-car shot. Hopefully that will change but I agree that if it doesn't then voting across all the submissions should happen for fairness.

Thanks for the clarification on the cover shots... I actually might have one that's respectable that's a multi-car shot, I'll pull it up and see if it's any good much less print quality.

As for taking the calendar over, I'm more than happy to once the finalists are decided upon. I'd like to reserve the right to use alternate selections though if any of the shots turn out to be unfit for printing, just as jpeg ghosting, artifacts, etc. I'm working on downloading a photoshop filter or valid serial# that Supersprynt turned me on to (since I don't have the $$ right now to actually pay for it) so if I'm able to get that filter, that should help some actually. Naturally the use of the filter would be for demo purposes only and not as an act of piracy, as I do not condone software piracy.

The texas meet yielded some pics of a large number of cars - someone better qualified would have to say whether or not they are cover worthy tho. i have no skill or much knowledge of photography.
please note these are Snapshotgt's pics - I can't and won't submit them because of that. That descision is obviously up to him.

Just a thought.
What about the ECG's pics from this year? Or were they on the cover last year?

anyway I think this is being rushed..If u asked me with some of the pics u have now there is going to be no buyers besides the ppl who have there car in the calendar...I think we need to get it out there more that ppl are submitting pics bc Im not sure most members have seen this yet but thats just me idk
