I know a few people have done the swap on this forum (I can't find anyone on TN in the Camry forum) and I need some input.
I'm going from an automatic tranny to a e153 on a 1996 Camry (5sfe) and I wasn't sure what to do with the Ecu.
The thing that I wasn't sure about is the fact that the 5sfe models never came with e153 (but they did for a s51) and I wasn't sure if I should still go with the s51 ecu, or the e153 one.
Anyone know?
Thanks

Just get a 5sfe Manual ecu. As long as it is a manual ecu it could careless what Manual transmission you are putting in.

Go with the s54 ecu. You'll be fine, as long as it is for a manual trans.

a 5s with a e153 is gonna be a dog.
the gears are way to long for a stock motor.

If you have a 94-95 you shouldn't need to replace the ECU at all.

Yes I know. 94-95 you do not have to swap the ECU when doing an auto to manual swap, regardless of the transmission you're using. 96+ you need the manual ECU (or you can wire in a resistor of some sort).
