just a quick question, do the mirrors from different years/trims fold to different angles?

ie. do some fold so that they are completely parallel with the car while others fold so that point out a couple degrees?

if so, anyone know which years/trims fold how?

Mines a 94 and folds flush - or near enough!!!! I don't know if other years fold differently, I doubt it! Why would they?

because i swapped housings to USDM my mirrors fold:

the left one, not complete. the right one almost flushed. In the jdm casings they fold evenly

hm.. bcuz my original pair, i swapped them into my usdm housing and they do not fold parallel... they angles outwards slightly

the driver side motor on my 1st set somehow 'wore down' and the passenger side wouldn't stop properly after a shop worked on my car, so i replaced them both...

now my passenger side folds parallel while driver side angles outwards slightly just like before... so i'm just wondering if i got a set that weren't identical

so are you still using the usdm housings? or perhaps the shop swapped your old jdm mirrors and put them back in to the same usdm housings? i don't think there are any differences in mirror angles between model years.. only when comparing between rhd and lhd mirrors should you notice a difference.

i'm still using my usdm housings.

my old ones were totally fubared to i'm sure these are the new ones that are installed.

and i THINK i saw pics where some people's mirrors folder parallel while some other peoples do not fold parallel but point out at a slight angle like my old ones

well first, you're supposed to keep the jdm housings and base in order for them to fold parallel..
don't use the usdm ones or they will stick out.

this is the difference in angles btwn usdm & jdm (or more specifically lhd & rhd)

the mirrors are the same except for the concave (or convex?) mirror on the right hand side that says "object in mirror are closer than they appear". the jdms don't have that. so changing the mirror doesn't help much.

if the angle of the mirrors is the problem, simply take the mirror off then the 3 screws that hold the mirror angle adjuster thingy and but a couple of small 5mm rubber washers behind the screws to give the correct angle. that's what i did and it's been fine for me.

I thought JDM mirrors (housing, mirror, aka whole assembly) were plug-and-play?

Since I just bought a set of these, will swapping the actual mirrors give me the same view as I have now with my stock, LHD USDM mirrors?

you'll also need to use some plastic washers to make the glass bend to the proper angle. you need some convexity on the passenger side glass.

Okay, I think I've got the wiring thing figured out EXCEPT for the passenger side mirror. The passenger mirror's wires were cut before the plug, so I need confirmation on what color each wire turns into after the plug.

PLEASE tell me if this is correct! (right side being the wires BEFORE the plug, left side are the wires AFTER the plug)

... ^after | before^
I used the diagram AzianAdvanced posted on pg10 to compare the same thing for the driver side, and since i actually have the driver plug, i saw that it was correct. I just want to be 100% on the passenger side

PS- A BIG thanks to njccmd2002 for taking the time to call me and explain some things, while he was at work! A great asset to this community!

Yup, lhd and rhd cars have opposite mirror angles. Basically passenger side is more angled than the driver side.
