Hi All, been installing my sound system for a little while so thought id put some pics up fr you lot to see, all ideas and opinions are welcome for improvements and upgrades for the future. Please bear i mind it is still a work in progress, so no funny comments like, "Why dont you actually install that speaker?", simple answer is cos i havnt had the bloody time! The set up is as follow, i have two custom made amps by Genesis, a highly renowned English manufacturer. One Has three Dualmono amps in one case, this runs my MB Quart QSD Actively (thats one amp for the tweet, one for the mid, and one for the bass driver), then my second Genesis amp is two DualMono and a monoblock in a single case. Monoblock gives the Kenwood Sub 1200RMS @ 1 ohm, and the other two amps are running my Kenwood XXV Anniversary Components in the rear. Running Yellow top in the front with Zero Gauge Knuconceptz cable to the rear, then into an Audison distribution block, which splits the power to each of the amps using Phoenix Gold 4 Gauge cable. Im running all Power cables under the false floor as to get no interference with signal and speaker cables. There is also a UCS Pro installed for Time Alignment, cross-overs, also lets me crossover slopes and frequency adjustment etc

Doner vehicle! Exteriors getting a big makeover when the sun starts to shine in England, although may neva happen.













Source Unit, my baby, bit old school but i jus love it. This i believe is the only headunit with a built in tube in the processing path. Makes all the sounds more natural, and well its jus orgasmic.






Zero Gauge is such a pain to squeeze through the car, but worth it









Now the good stuff! Thats my two Genny amps plus all my processing power to get things sounding greeeeaat







Then as i went for the stealth look! So you cant see it to steal it








and before you say it that sub box aint staying, built it to specs before i realised how mahoosive it was! Then i sound proofed my door, couple of layers on the inner skin, a slab of foam to stop any cancelling waves of the inner door and then some Dynamat Extreme on the outter skin.









We then add some Speakers, i got MB Quart QSD 3 way running Active of my Genesis DualMono amps, and then some Kenwood XXV Aniversary adition components running in the rear, also running active of DualMono amps, and the sub is a Kenwood sumtin or another (cant remember, but its got a beautiful rear end)







I have also purchased some Brax MultiControllers allowing me to monitor Voltage, temperature, amperage and even the Watts that the amps are pumping out. Trying to keep with the stealth idea i mounted them in the pointless cupholders that we have in our car. They are now hidden and slide out when i need to monitor the system.






And thats as far as i got, should i get a puncture i look like this



Update, new Sub and box and also Split charge relay to be installed. Sub is Phoenix Gold Cyclone, not like a normal sub as its driver is rotary and therfore doesnt need huge voice coils to make it move back and forth. Also have a Orion MBR70 split charge unit, this splits the charge from the alt, but unlike other split charge system, ensures your main battery gets charged before any extra goes to the second battery, this ensures your car starts after a long booming session! Enjoy!!

how old is that headunit and what is the model number?

that headunit is awesome AS!!!! i have a tube in my guitar digital effects processor and it makes it sound so much better. i wish i had a small spare mines full size

Panasonic CQ-TX5500W - Its all in my sig, and it even playes mp3's, awesome, only pprob is it doesnt have a sub preout, but i can live with that. Age, hmm, think it was early 2000 or a whisker before that. Cheers for the compliments, keep em coming, my head is getting bigger as we speak

I would neaten up the wiring. Throughout your setup you have excessive runs of cable. Coiling up cabls isn't desireable either. You'll be dropping a small amount of volts in the excess cable runs. Some monster equipment though!!!

I am in an utter state of awe and cluelessness. I don't understand half of what you wrote (thankfully it's illustrated with photographs). Really nice setup you have going there. It kind of makes me feel like my car has... well, tiny crappy computer speakers hooked up to a jack-in-the-box compared to your setup.


Here in America, we call that "beer goggles". You make a lovely couple though LOL

If you are running this setup for competition, I would clean up the wiring, match up all those computer fans (i'm not a fan of fans (pun) unless they are completely silent. background noise bothers the hell out of me) because they looks a bit silly with some black and some white.

Also, they may not be able to see it to steal it, but It still seems like a shame to not show off the goods in some way, even if it's in your sub floor but with a hinged top so you can lift it up and everyone will go "oooooh"

And why a kenwood sub?

The head unit looks pretty wild i must admit. Reminds me of an old receiver I have at home. Silver with big knobs

Yo dude, hows you doing? was pm'ing you on celica-club regrading alts the other day, and now your here aswell, such a small world. Yeah would love to neaten the cables up, but was waiting till i finish, i never know what im doing next, and once a cables been cut it quite hard to super glue back together .



Haha, you may be clueless and have tiny computer speakers but im sure their perfectly formed. As for my mate in the pic, he's my bitch, not the other way round. Ohh... Feel free to better me, in a dress picture, i know its hard to beat but im sure you'll find a way



Naa not competing, although did get second in my class (single 12" sub) at a local DBDrag comp, it was a small crowd, but still got a trophy to prove it! Computer fans were stolen last minute from my current computer and probably explains why everything is running sooo slow now, Will match them up, but thats not a priority at the mo, I also got some lovely PC Grills here waiting to install, should look mint when its carpeted and matching. My other pland was to cut two holes in the mid section (which is already hinged), jus above the amps and perspex it, then get lots of neons (not to everyones tastes) and have the light shining from the inside. The Genny amps have a built in thermostat, so the fans are only active when the amps get hot. As for the Kenwood sub, not really got any excuse, the sub was on special so bought it as a impulse buy, I then needed amp to power it, so bought the “Famous Five” amp, and it sorta grew from there.

When will it eva stop!!! Deaf at 40 I think not!! Maybe death but neva deaf

Yeah, fair few loving the Headunit. Its a Jap unit (checky buggers always save all the best stuff for them selves), a frinid in Newcastle got it shipped over a few years ago and i loved it then. Cudnt believe he was selling it so snapped it up straight away. Apparently if you change the tube thats already in their it will completly change the sound again, havnt tried it yet, but will do soon. Nice to see ya Lastofthestds you going Japshow next weekend??

Nice set up mate, I used Genesis amps back in the day when I competed, great sounding amps.
Your only the second person (me being the first) that Ive seen running the Kenwood XXV Anniversaries, what do you think of them?

i just wanna know how on the i assume factory alt and only one yellow top you keep any kind of decent voltage in there i was stugling in my car with two upgraded batts and more wire and half the power to stay about 12 volts for more than a few mins of hard playing, but if you are looking for an alt i would look into mechman alts he has 250amp alts for this car for only 500$ but everything looks awsome man

I really liked those speakers, they were my main speakers till i came across a really good deal on the MB Quarts so got them aswell. Magnets on those are mahoosive buggers and the tweets are also pretty heavy duty, the mounting rings were thick as hell to fit them in the doors originally. However im finding it hard to incorperate the old XXV's into my current setup, not very wise to have tweets in the rear so gotta find a new place to position them. I also got a four channel XXV amp loaned to a mate currently, u fin kits worth anythin?? What comp were you competing in? got any pics? Im considering it, but mainly built my system for selfish reasons, as i jus love the sound it makes, shivers and all!



Only way i keep a decent voltage is not to turn the bass up, system copes with all the speakers, but its the sub that kills it for me. Standard 70amp alt i think is dying tho hence looking fo the replacement before its too late. I heard that the High Outpur alts were only good at high reves and wont be beneficial at idle, is this true?? or is there different types of alts?? Knowledge wise; Sound system i can hold my own, soon as it gets in the engine bay i fail big time!
