Im really getting more and more interest into just turboing my 5sfe engine, i was checking out some turbo kits on ebay for an 5sfe engine.. and 1 guy is selling an rebuilt turbo kit taken out from his 5sfe engine for only 200 bucks plus 60 shipping.. so im just wondering if this is a good idea, not in terms of buying his rebuilt engine.. but turboing my engine period. I mean i still want an Gt4, but im thinking maybe ill hold that off till i graduate and just buy another GT and dp the swap.. b/c i really love celicas ... and I also think I can do it myself!!!

heres the link to the turbo kit taken from an 5sfe engine:

OK, so you need Cam shaft seals.....and if I had to guess what a CANG seal is I would guess a rear main seal which I guess he was trying to call a "CRANK SEAL" thats my best guess. Wires you can get from Toyota, but I don't have the part number on me. About the Gauge cluster....why not use the one in the car? And all parts can be bought here http://www.kbox.ca/catalog/

PS. I highly recommend putting in adjustable cam gears, or at least an adjustable exhaust cam gear. You will kick yourself in the ass later if you don't do it now, I promise you that wink.gif .

LOL - he meant Crank seal - I've heard Japanese men say it that way before. If you haven't already done so I suggest getting both the seals for the crank - like Jim said - you'll kick yourself later if you don't.

We all understand the money game. But just make sure you do it before you put the motor back in, otherwise putting the cam gears in while the motor is in the car is like doing a "full" timing job. Not easy. You can pick up both cam gears from ATS for well under 200 bucks. Just a friendly heads up. Best of luck with your swap.

Yea.. but unfortunatly it looks like its gonna be after he puts in the engine, b/c I already ordered those seals on sunday.. so I believe he is already putting it in, and thats my only car and im in college so i need that car back asap.. frown.gif Im just gonna take it easy though.. i prolly wont ever go past 60 with it.. hopefully that can buy me time for the cams

Its all good. If you had the money, and were willing to wait on putting it back in for another couple of days, the CAM GEARS have nothing to do with the cam seals. You can install cam gears, even if your cam seals are already installed....just a little FYI. why don't you want to go past 60, whats your thoughts/reasoning behind that behind that.

oh jus wanna be cautious.. the car isnt 100% tuned.. plus i dont have the ST205 hood yet.. so i dunno what the consequences since there will be no air flow from the hood to the intercooler

Ok I must be missing something. Is this a "stock" ST205 going in.....Meaning stock turbo, stock ECU, and stock fuel? Because if it is, you car IS "100%" tunned. In fact, you car will be "100%" tunned up until you reach 340whp, which wont happen UNTIL you upgrade your turbo. As for the hood, it isn't needed to "cool down" the intercooler, because the stock water to air intercooler doesn't need air to pass through it to keep it cool, thats what the heat exchanger in the front bumper is for. The vent on the stock GT4 hood is for helping heat escape the engine bay. So if all said above is "stock" as I mentioned, dont be afraid to open it up......it wants you to, so might as well give it what it wants. LOL, or maybe thats what I want. Anyway, have fun with your new setup, at any boost level below 17psi, you want have any issues with that setup.

not if he has a GT. The GT has basically the same pass side mount as the 205, the ST is completely different.

Doing next to zero research on your swap and handing it over to a random mechanic.... priceless.

Nope - ST-204 for the GT [GTS in Canada] and AT-200 for the ST.
ST-202 is the everywhere else 2.0l 3S-GE 6GC whether it be Beams or not.

ok... imma try n solve the problem b4 i even see my car sunday.. my mechanic said the engine is too big... im thinking it may the hood issue. I still had the st204 hood on the car, the st205 hood is still on its way.. maybe the intercooler is not allowing the hood to close.. u guys think this may be what the problem is??
