Thanks bro - you should get them for yours too [Unless you have leather - I forget]. Can you check your hookups to see how much a new black carpet would be? My guy just told me "expensive - you don't want to know" and refused to elaborate. kindasad.gif

Pepboys on 610 @ Ella (the big one) has a service where they make / obtain brand new carpets for cars. I think they're custom made but IDK for sure... Want me to call into LKQ?

the seats look great in the car! thumbsup.gif
the thicker side bolsters are great & so supportive when tossing the car thru the hills etc biggrin.gif

bummer to see that tear in the rear seat frown.gif
at least the rear seats aren't that expensive, but still sux none the less.

there are some custom carpet places that you could get a brand new carpet from and some are actually pretty nice that i have seen.
as far as dying, i would just dye it black as i think the red would be a bit garish. i prefer the red to be more of an accent, looks classy that way imho.

Be prepared - they making getting people into the back seat a PITA due to the autoforward feature being on the wrong side as well as the little release on the back of the chair being on the wrong one. Also the passenger now has the butt height adjustment which isn't a problem for most people but I'm 6'3" and I need that extra inch or so of headroom kindasad.gif
That being said I wouldn't trade them for brand new leather seats - they really look soooo much better in person.

Zero - IDK yet. Alex for sure - beyond that IDK.

Ripley - don't worry about it. You really went above and beyond the call of duty there and I really looked them over too - it just wasn't visible thru the plastic somehow. If they happen to get another set of rears LMK. Maybe they will sell just the bottom for cheaper seeing as thee were ripped but I'm not at all worried about it. It's not noticeable even when you're in the car - the pics were meant to display that. You can only see it from above. Plus - I'm sure my Mom can fix me right up. Thanks for everything biggrin.gif

at least it isn't a huge rip which is good - i was afraid it was way worse, you know the imagination can work against you at times.
you quickly realize all the differences from RHD to LHD when installing something like seats or mirrors - all these things you never even thought of but the end result justifies it all. smile.gif

Zero, we're doing our best to get ready for Austin. We're going to be driving down with a couple of local MKIII Supra guys that Alex knows.
R2 got hit in a fender bender so i've got a new set of fenders coming in as we speak - just a matter of fighting with the dude's insurance to get the cash to cover damages.
I've got a new electronic boost gauge & some spacers coming in too that we can install before the meet.
R2 may be a complete multicolor ghetto car on the outside but he's got it where it counts - should be a blast! biggrin.gif

This is total BS - That little car is easily the sexiest MKI I've ever seen [and I've seen a ton] even with it's two different colors - Ripley's just being retardedly overly modest here. And it's performance combined with Joe's driving skillz is instantly orgasmic - I was afraid I had ruined R2's uber sexy recaros and my pants when I got my ride in him. tongue.gif

(oh, BTW i forgot that dye at your place last night)

I'll get it to you - no problem.

OK so check it out. I got curious since I'm driving around with no carpet ATM and mocked up a red carpet mod and I'm really liking the result. If I got The exact color matched to the red in the seats and attached that cloth material to the Black carpet I got from D-Man I think it would look really nice. Now some of you have said that it would be too much red and gaudy but you've got to remember that the hyper sports floor mats I have cover alot more area and fit the contours of the floor pan much better than the regular stock ones so you'll see alot less than you would in other cars. Also since there is so many little subtle things that have been painted red on my car but there is nothing in the interior except the seats that show red so this along with some of the red stitched leather parts would really finish off the interior I think.
But who knows - I'm gonna get some fabric and do a better mockup and then drive around for a few days and see if I still feel the same way about it later. Sometimes I get these ideas and really fall in love with them only to find a few days later that I can't see what I originally saw in them. So we'll see.
The pics [remember this is just some material I had laying around - the real mockup and the finished product will actually match the seats]:

Comments? [Try not to be too harsh tho - remember this is my build thread and I intend to be able to go back and visit it years from now]

I dont know Matt, i think if you had red mats and black carpet it would be o.k. IMO too much red, but do what makes you comfortable.

Only if we did you headliner and all the trim in red too; otherwise it's way off... (although i've been telling you that you need to do your trim in red anyway wink.gif )

I actually don't mind the carpet, a little darker and properly fitted could look pretty good.

Another option maybe keep the carpets black and add a red light down in the footwells. That would look sick thumbsup.gif

All those things are very true guys [Especially the "pimp" thing Batman]. Maybe after I do the initial sleep on it thing with the mock up I'll install the black carpet and maybe just play around with accents.
Batman - Do you think it would be possible to permanently dye the reinforcement area under your heels on the Hyper Sports mats? I have an extra DS [PS on ours] mat so I can do some experimenting. I wouldn't want to use rit dye that way cause it would tint all the black and ruin my cool little mint condition tags tongue.gif . I had already planned to sharpie [the most permanent substance known to man LOL] the "Celica" and "Hyper Sports" on the spare mat red as an experiment - who knows - that and the reinforcement area red might be the subtle trick I was looking for without going to over the top like this.
I'm gonna keep playing with this idea.
Thanks for the thoughts guys - keep em coming.

I agree - this was just some stuff I had laying around and I couldn't get it fitted to the contours in the time I had before work this morning and I wanted to see what some of you, my friends, thought.
I've actually got the red lights that go under the footwells ready to go but I thought that might be too rice so I haven't done anything with them yet - that's another good thought tho.

I need to order the red stitched SS-III shift bag. Anybody got the P/N or know where I could find it - it's not in the stickies I looked already.

BTW - I took a 1/2day off today to knock out the power folding mirror relay - wish me luck.

that made me LOL like crazy - good thing i am at home so no strange looks except from the cat laugh.gif

the red isn't as gaudy as i thought it would be - envisioning it in a more deep blood red color to match the seats.
if you like it after a few days then go for it!

i still like the black carpet better personally just b/c i love predominately black interiors with red accents.
it just makes the red accents "pop" so much more as it stands out against the black that much more directing your eye to every exciting little bit of red here & there in the interior.

btw i have red neons in the drivers & passenger footwells of the Camry it may be a little ricey but who cares - part of me will always be a closet ricer lol tongue.gif

I agree that the red doesn't look as bad as I thought it would, but I still think it looks like a brothel and my preference remains with the original very dark red we talked about earlier.

Ripley - It never ceases to amaze me how similar our tastes are - car choices, car mods, SW and Aliens etc etc etc. You stumped me a bit with the gone with the wind stuff but whatever floats you're boat. tongue.gif BTW - Head's up - Best Buy has the SW Robot Chicken DVD for $9.99 and I just got a $10 rewards zone card so guess where I'm off to? If you haven't already gotten it - you need to. The Back story to Pondo Baba [Totally mispelled that I know - leave me alone I'm chemically enhanced ATM] is fcukin worth the $10 all by itself wink.gif [He's the cantina thug Obiwan releaved of the burden of carrying around two arms in case you didn't know or my spelling was that off]

OK back on topic:
See these are good thoughts and ideas everyone - keep them coming. I'm gonna go get some fabric and wire up my mirrors. biggrin.gif
