I have noticed that when I am excited, and want to be excited, I get really nervous and it bother me. I dunno what the heck to do about it. I am not active like I should be, and I have really always had this problem, but as I get older, it kinda has gotten a lil worse. I know energy drinks don't help, and I can give those up. But has anyone had this problem and managed to over come it? What did you do? Or are you still dealing with it?

This could be linked back to the smoking thread. This will become an issue for a lot of the guys in that one wink.gif

(not saying that's the cause of your problem btw, but it's a classic and proven symptom of cannabis use)

Oh, I have only did that a few times in life. Honestly, I did mess with harder stuff, but only 3 times in my life. This has been a problem of mine ever since I was a kid though. Meaning like 9. Life has gotten waaaaaaaaaay better for me now than as a kid, and it seems the bad things that happened as a kid are troubling me now. I have just been praying hard. I keep dreaming that someone is hating on my car, and I only get a few hours of sleep. I wake up and pray that God takes my fears and pains away, and then I just get up and go about my day. It's all I could do I guess, because I refuse to take pills.

Not to play the "Racist" card, but doctors be hating on me man! I know all kinds of white people from the preppy, the poppy, and the sloppy, they all get Xanex. I tried many different doctors in town, many different approaches, and guess what? They wanna give me Zoloft!!! I am like "Foo, I could buy that stuff over the counter or take tic tacs and pretend like they work, why would I want that?".

I love those Xanex pills, and even half do their job on me. That's why I (once in a great while, like a year of an eclipse, have to resort to that "Indian Bush", I mean...... that "Native American Bush".

go to a psychiatrist.. not a family or general practices doctor.

xanax will help. but it can be habit-forming.

medicines that have helped with my anxiety are: lithium (for bi-polar) and adderall (adhd).

why are you hating on zoloft? have you even tried it? it DOES work.

Zoloft sucks and people claim it works, but I don't need to feel good two weeks from then, I would only need it at that moment. Because naturally, I don't get depressed. At least not anymore. I made it this far without the pills. I just need to control getting nervous. Neuroton or whatever it is called turned me into a zombie, and also if I would drink, it made me depressed the next morning, only I couldn't tell or explain to anyone because I was a friggin zombie. Lithium, didn't do much, because I hated going and getting blood work done each week.

I need a happy pill that is only needed when it happens. Not something to continuously take each day of my life. NOW that is habit forming.

Welbutrin is an anti-depressant that also I think addresses anxiety - all without the pesky side effects such as sleeplessness, upset stomach or *ahem* diminished libido.

We're a medicine-pumping society though. I'm not suggesting you take medication. Your issues could quite realistically be resolved with regular therapy visits, and in your case, I think that should be the first course of action. Stuff has a way of creeping back up, no matter how long you push it down; often, it can manifest itself in physical ways if not dealt with. Chronic anxiety is a classic symptom of that. If you consider medication though, it's not a bad one to try out.

VERY good point Griffy - I'll take that one step further - We are an over-Therapy'd society as well. Since it became the vogue in the 80's it seems everyone has gotten a Therapist so that they could have a best friend who has to listen to their problems. Alot of mental well being has to come from within yourself and also excepting that there are things outside of yourself that you can't change and that you should probably not let bother you so much that you have anxiety over it.
I feel once you master yourself and then learn to deal with outside matters for what they are - then you won't need drugs or therapy. Mentally ill people not included of course.

i have anxiety problems but i prefer to not take any prescription medication for them.
i've had them ever since i can remember like since kindergarten & at different times in my life they have gone from being pretty much debelitating to managable.

diet & exercise has helped me - sounds corny, but if you give up caffiene & try to eat more balanced natural (no additives/preservatives) meals it can do wonders.

every now & then panic attacks get the best of me, but they don't last as long as they used to & don't happen as often so i've finally gotten things more managable.

a lot of it is just learning how to reprogram your own mind & training yourself to overcome the anxiety itself.
using prescription or herbal medicine works for some people, perhaps you could use it to help & then be able to slowly get off it if you wanted to.

Seriously dude! I think that is why America is all jacked up. Because a lot of us do not exercise and eat right (yes, together). When I eat at home, yes, there are no preservatives, and perhaps I should learn how to cook as well. But I am not gonna lie, my ass is laaaaaaaaaaaaaazy, unless it comes to something on my car. Then I just don't eat, get loaded on Rockstar and Cigs...

Sometimes I ask myself "Can I overcome the anxiety? Or am I like Paul asking God to remove the thorn from his side? (meaning just something you gotta acknowledge and learn to deal with....... Was it Paul who asked God? I don't remember now LOL).

Zoloft does suck, it never worked for me.

On the "medicine's don't work" note, I just recently started on Ritalin and it really has changed alot. I can concentrate better, I'm not tired anymore in the afternoons, and I have more energy all around. Unless this just coincided with a huge boost in mindset according to a placebo effect.

Really? What conditions is Ritalin for? I might have to look into that. I know I am bi-polar, but I figure that's just who I am. I am not into meds, but I would like to improve in the lazy side a bit. I know meds are not the answer, but something for just those moments. I do not get depressed anymore, I just get nervous sometimes like uncontrolably. When I should be excited, I get scared, and when I get scared, it hurts my heart. Maybe it is true, that filipinos have issues with their heart.

i had this problem but in a different way. I worried about everything and thought about "what if this happened". That kinda stuff ran through my head everyday. I tried a bunch of different meds, but the only thing that really helped was therapy. I learned a bunch of different relaxation techniques, it really helped. I also tried acupunchure which worked wonders for a few days, but the price for one visit was pretty steep ($60)

And i'm going to x4 on this one.

Ever stood on a really high latter? Then you look down, and you're scared? Guess what. If you stand on that latter long enough, climb up and down it, then eventualy; you will not be scared to be up there anymore. Take some drugs to deal with that exact same fear, and it wont hurt when you fall down. So do you want to climb the latter? Or not care when you fall? Witch direction are you trying to go?

Ritalin is for ADD, it increases heart rate, pulse, basically makes you more alert since you can't concentrate as well when you have ADD. I'm also bi-polar, and I haven't started the meds yet since I need a blood test first, but one usually accompanies the other, and ADD medicine sometimes quells symptoms of BPD.
