Hi I am trying to install Alpine Type S Component speakers. Currently I have the original factory speakers and stereo installed.
I think I know whats going on, but just need some info from you experts!! I have have looked and read the post "Fabricated 6.5" Speaker mounts from the stock 8" front mount, Easy and free" that Death wrote http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...peaker&st=0 and just have a couple of questions. So.... I have taken the passenger side door off and taken the origianl speaker off, cut it out and will be sticking on the new Alpine 6.5" woofer in place of the original using the metal casing that the original speaker came with. (I just did what Death did). I will also then install the tweeter somewhere. Im now on Step 8 (from Deaths post) "8. This step will be different for several different setups. I chose component speakers so I ran the stock wires to the input of the included crossovers [you will just splice them into your new speaker's wires if you choose to use full range speakers - pretty self explanatory]. I then ran the "woofer" output from the crossover to the new 6.5"s and ran a length of wire from the "tweeter" output to be used later and mounted the crossover to the enclosure [this is a perfect example of where not to mount the crossover on the driver's side. This is exactly where the window controls sit - I figured this out as I was installing the last peice of my door panel - the controls . This is a great example of where to mount them for the passenger side (in other words you need a mirror image of this setup for the driver's side door]:" Just to get some extra clarity before I start ... QUESTION 1 -- Do I cut the white plugs off the Purple and pink wire (extend the wire with solder or extension adapter it if necesery to reach the cross over box) and atach these two wires at the INPUT TERMINAL on the cross over box? QUESTION 2 -- As these wires were attached to the ORIGINAL speaker terminals (via the white plug interface), is this pink/purple wire from the HEAD UNIT AMP or are the AMP WIRES different and found somewhere else? Thanks for your patients guys, sorry if I am asking too many simple questions, just never done something like this before!! |

question 1: yes
question 2: They coming from the plugs u need to install a aftermarket radio. They may still be in the amp if u are still stock radio wise. but either way these are the ones u need. man this is how you learn things by doing them, dont apologize lol |
