Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone knows if I need spacers or not because my boss at work gave me a set of winter tires on subaru rims 16x6.5 I tried them on today on the front and the rims look like they almost rub on the caliper assembly. Tire size is 205/55r16

I need some input.. Thanks

Okay... I'm assuming you're not lowered. So yes you will need spacers, but 55mm offsets is supper sucked in for 6.5 inch rims. You sure thats the offset? You sure you're not just stating your sidewall?

Which subaru rims are they? I know OEM Impreza wheels excluding STI BBS wheels are all +55 offset, which will not work at all on the Celica without spacers. The lowest I'd go is a +42 offset, and thats with a 7" wide wheel.

Ya I am sure thats the offset, it says (offset 55 ) in the back of the rim. My boss just gave them to me because we had a major shop clean up and inventory update and he didn't want them so I grabbed it. Then I tried them on after work it looks ok but there isn't much clearance between the rim and the caliper assembly... good thing its not touching.. anyways if I do need spacers what size???

they look like these

just a pic I found online

Those wheels are OEM 2002-2004 wrx wheels. If you were going to run a spacer I'd put on either a 15mm or 20mm spacer, to bring you out to +40 or +35. Either way you'll need longer studs, and I don't think the back of those wheels will accept an adapter. I think the best idea is to sell them on craigslist for a couple hundred (pending tires and condition) and move on. Too much work involved for something like that. Go find some nice wheels that will actually fit without spacers.

Thanks...Sounds like a plan..i'll prolly sell the rims and keep the tires... The tires are pretty good winter tires and have a lot of tread left..

GDB chasis imprezas have +38 ET (STi's with Brembos) WRX's has +48 ET, Legacy - +55ET - the only rims that do fit Celica without spacers - are from STi's - but you guys dont have 2000-2002 STi's in US, only the 2003+ (if im correct) and 2003+ ones came with 5x114.3 holes. Legacy has 5x100 till 2008. WRX has 5x100 till 2003.

Center hole on the Subaru rims are bigger then celicas - so centering rings would be needed.

doggy, the 2004 STI has 5x100 BBS. They went to 5x114 in 2005.

we're not saying they wont fit, they just wont fit very well. they'd be sunk in and nowhere near flush.

ps - doggy, are you making parts for subarus now? i can really go for some nice DCW items in my 2003 wrx wagon.
