When you say 4 inch long pipe directly on to the turbo, I am assuming the intake pipe connected on the compressor housing. So yes, you can.Since you have a 3rd gen you have no AFM to worry about. I would relocate the battery to the trunk and make that pipe longer and have it towards the fender more so it gets more air. 3" diameter piping that is.
Yes you can vent your BOV. So if you plan on not recirculating the bypass valve into the intake, just keep the bov where it is and have a straight solid intake pipe. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer

Assuming you kept the factory catch can you still need to weld on a fitting to connect it to the intake. And like beccentaur3 said, bring your filter up near the inner fender where the factory air box was installed. You don't just want to have a 4" long (by 3" diameter pipe) with filter coming right off the turbo because you will still be behind the radiator, sucking in all that hot air.

Yeah I'm moving the battery and running it through the headlight plus to can run 4in diameter pipe with a coupling reducer |

Why? Just run 3" diameter piping and you're golden.

I guess if you want birds flying into your turbo. I hope you plan on running a filter on that thing.

I am going to be running a 4" intake on my setup, I got all the parts I needed in yesterday. Hux racing has had massive successes with a 4"intake over a 3" intake. So between the added performance, the enhanced/louder turbo whistle (turbo whistle is enhanced with a 4" intake due to more resonating area.....or so I have heard) , the killer look of a massive 4" intake, and Manny's awesome welding skills, how could I pass up the opportunity.
Hopefully I can get Dustin (Batman) to go to the dyno with Manny when he runs my car. I would like to see what kind of gains a 4" intake actually has over a 3"intake (if any), because Hux racing has only claimed having bigger gains, but I haven't found any back to back numbers to prove it. After a few runs with my 4" intake, I will see if Dustin will let Manny take a couple runs with his 3" intake on my car for a true back to back comparison. It would also be nice to see how similar the 2 motors (both GEN3's) are in HP and TRQ at the same boost levels. And then add in the water injection to see how those numbers change, and how AFR's will change. Should be very informative/interesting, I hope he has some free time to kill with Manny when he goes to the dyno, I KNOW he is wondering/curious as to what power he is making. --------------------

Well there's on down on my end... not sure if you wanna come down this route naa, im pretty familiar with my guy, and i like the fact of all my work being tested on the same dyno. if you do go to your local guy, be sure to bring a disk with you, and ask them to put the run files on them, its awesome to be able to go back and review each one of your runs, and overlay them ect. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
