Also, if the distance is a main concern for anyone, then this cruise is definitely NOT ideal for you. As soon as everyone arrives at said destination and is ready to go after having lunch, gassing up, and what not, there will be an additional 100+ miles going along the planned route. So, if the drive is of greater reason than the experience of the cruise and getting the chance to meet new people/faces, then this cruise is definitely NOT an ideal trip for you.

exactly. well said Alex.

GotToyota, everyone who has replied to this thread is willing to make the trip to Austin no matter how far it is for them to drive & the only person complaining about it is you.
You haven't driven to any of the meets we've had in Austin so no offense, but no one wants to hear your complaining.

Death & Joe & myself don't complain about having to use Premium 93 octane even when it was $4 a gallon -- we all still made the drive out.
We all go to Austin b/c we all enjoy driving as opposed to standing around in a parking lot just doing nothing but talking and staring at our cars for hours on end.

Bottom line is the meet is going to be in Austin, you either can come or plan your own thing for people in DFW that aren't going to drive down for whatever reason.

Wrd. my Eibach Pro-kit, KYB GR-2s, and ST sway bars serve no purpose if the car's just gonna sit in a parking lot for a meet, especially one like this one.

Ooh, Austin? SWEET! I've kinda always wanted to go to Austin, I've heard it's a really cool town. As far as I'm concerned, if I make it all the way to Texas, Austin's fine. How far is Austin from Houston, anyway? I need to look at a map. Come to think of it, I'm not even sure I know where Austin is. It's south of Houston, isn't it? Never mind, I looked it up tongue.gif

You guys are still thinking May though, right?

Yeah - may sounds good. Austin is mostly west of Houston but a slight bit South. I hate the fcukin place myself but it's mostly the hippy greenpeace BS that drives me away.
However, it does have the best damn driving roads ever [Next to Houston Freeways - but that's highly illegal so we NEVER do any of that wink.gif ]. It's also perfectly Central to Texas so it makes an ideal meet spot for the most people to show up to. The local Fri-Sat drag street - 6th street - is almost as well known as Bourbon Street in LA.
You'd love it Griffy. biggrin.gif

Houston freeways are FTMFW. Especialy the BIG joints between large freeways where they joint. Like from 290NW onto BeltWay 8 S. Ih man i love that one tongue.gif or from 290SE onto I-10W, I almost wiped out there once.... kindasad.gif It was raining. Scarry sh!t to spin out of control when you're 80 foot (atleast) in the air looking over the edge where there are 3 other levels of freeway and you can see the rain water is falling onto construction equipment & devestated concrete (construction Zone) right where you're about to land if those fcuking breaks don't start working soon kindasad.gif

^ exacaly what happened ^

it took a while, but after i was down the road a bit, it was kinda cool laugh.gif But that's the whole point of me taking those crosses w/e i can, because it's one lane, high High HIGH up, and you can see EVERYTHING from up there. Some of them you'll look over to 18-20 story office buildings, and relize that you're level with the roof. Freakin awesome is what it is.

CLICKY
Then check out that BIG cross section right there... that's the one i get to go on DAILY biggrin.gif the street on the top left of that intersection that's one laned, it's the HIGHEST one on that intersection, look at all the freeways and feeter roads UNDER it. Freakin awesome...

I like the jump from 610 to I-10 West. They got done with construction on that highway, so you jump from 4 lanes on 610 to I think 7 (SEVEN!!) lanes on I-10. All that stretch of road is best late at night especially that gap between Houston and Katy. Mmmm...mmmm...b***h!

My absolute favorite - always has been - is the jump from I-10 headed outbound to 610 headed north and then a fast left hand cut across 5+ lanes to hit 290W - that's some fun ass shiz right there - at any speed biggrin.gif

If you are serious we always try to schedule our meets to accommodate the most people. Pretty much why we are starting to plan now. The only big concern is Griffgirl cause if she's gonna come ALL the way from Oregon than we have to make sure it happens the weekend she is here - obviously.

Oh yeah. That's some fun busniess!!

And he's not talking about racing or doing anything stupid, You have like... a tenth of a mile to make 5-6 lanes over. Look at the map in real time. the freeway drops you off on one side, then you have to get to the otherside or you wont make your freeway exit, and you'll be on a whole nother freeway going a whole nother direction.
