The other day I was driving home and thinking about my car, and I thought of a question that I thought I'd ask everyone on here. It's kind of a debate, but there's really no need to argue.

Do you drive a Celica because you love it or do you love it because you drive it?

Discuss.

because all my friends drive fully built civics or integras... and they feel it when they get mopped by a barely modded celica biggrin.gif (on the track of course, legally. in no way related to street racing!)

Because its fast and rare`ish, handles like its on rails and frequently embarrasses newer cars, Scoobies, Type R`s etc etc

It handles awesomely, gets good gas, and drives damn nice. Plus, my interior is damn near perfect and I love to look at it.

I love mine cos it's the t*ts!!

Just keeps going, refuses to break and frequently wipes the floor with plenty of newer cars. The look on those losers faces when their brand new ride gets blown into the weeds by a 15 year old car! - priceless!

When I first saw it -in the late 90's, I couldn't stop thinking about the Celi, the sweeping curves and those distinct 4 headlights.
I bought a Civic saloon as my first car, but that was actually unreliable during 6 years. I eventually traded in for my dream Celica at last, will keep it as long as I can, even though it's mpg is bad.

To this day, I appreciate its beauty, and superb handling, as well as the torque in 2nd and 3rd. wink.gif

Because it's a raging squeeky/squaky heap-of-crap that gets me to and from work. biggrin.gif

And though i try and try, I just don't have the time/money to work on it, or upgrade anything on it... So it continues to deteriorate while still delivering me to my final destination intact. thumbsup.gif

laugh.gif That's an excellent reason for loving a car. LOL.

I don't know what kinds of cars you guys are racing, but mine frequently loses. LOL. I mean, where I'm from, you either know cars or you don't. There is no middle ground. So there are stupid rednecks with the biggest lift kits and tires they can find that think because their truck has a V8 that it'll dominate my car. They lose every time. Then there are the guys that do know cars, and they either spend money right off the bat to buy a car that's actually fast (Mustang GT's, Corvette's, etc. -I hate both of those, just by the way. Different discussion for a different day.) or they spend a little bit of money to buy Civics or 240SX's and do motor swaps. I have one friend with a Civic hatchback and a K series and another friend with a 240SX and an RB20. Then there's me with my bone stock Celica. Needless to say, I lose. Bad. LOL.

In a way, that's why I started this thread lol. Like I said in my first post, do you drive your Celica because you love it or love your Celica because it's all you have?

In my case, it's the latter. My Celica is all I've got. I have it, and I completely agree with everything you guys have said. It handles great, and looks even better. But I'd rather have a mkIV Supra.

san0, I think you might have found the world's only unreliable Civic hahaha.

Hahahahahahaha I gotta meet this D-Man!

You have such a sarcastically negative outlook on life. biggrin.gif

It's all I have...but I love what I have, so it's not really a matter that.

There are, of course, plenty of other cars I could replace this with. But for the money, it was a great buy. There's also a great charm to Celicas and the community, one of the reasons I wanna get my hands on a GT-4.

By the way, no offense to the guys on there that drive lifted trucks. I have respect for a well-built truck just the same as I respect any well-built Celica. But well-built trucks don't exist around here where I live. It's just people buying trucks then shopping on Ebay for the biggest lift.

Rick James, I know what you mean. There is a great community surround Celicas. I have yet to meet or talk to a Celica owner that I hate or even dislike just a little bit. I liked 7th Gen Celicas until I got my 6th Gen. Until I got it, they were just a car that when I saw one I was like well, it's kinda neat, I guess. But as soon as I heard a 6th gen was up for sale, I grabbed it and never regretted it. Now when I look at 7th gens, I think they look like a cheap beater car that parents buy their kids to go off to college in.

Maybe that's because every 7th gen I see is a cheap beater car that parents bought their kids to go off to college in though. tongue.gif

I like 7th gens too, but the 6th gen just looks and feels like a much more expensive car to me. I've had people ask if I own a 2007-08 model Celica biggrin.gif Not bad for an 11 year old beater lol

Yeah really. Can't place my finger on it, but I feel like the 6GC is just much better than the 7GC. Plus, the 7GC's are just girly.

Hands down the best thing I've heard all day. I'm kinda scared of what D-Man's PM says, but I'm genuinely intrigued and somewhat curious.

Not that I don't think the 6th Gen's aren't girly, but I completely agree that the 7th gen is more feminine. I think the 6th Gen has more potential than the 7th gen does too. For example, we have the 3SGE BEAMS and 3SGTE, but I can't think of any motors for the 7th gen. I don't think there was a GT4 version of it. I think the 2ZZFE was about the best you could get for it. NOTE: I have NEVER done any research on the 7th gen. For all I know, there is a LOT more you could do with it than a 6th gen.

I think you're right, but I wasn't really talking engine-wise, more along the lines of exterior styling. And the 7GC interior is also pretty fugly IMO.

But engine-wise, a 6GC GT-Four is disgusting as hell...I've never driven one, but I would love to have one. ****, I've never even seen one in person.

That's so true... I love Griffgirl's signature. "Our cars the chick magnets for the budget conscious." I don't remember who said that but it's true!

At first when you said it had boobs I thought you meant it was just a really girly car lol.

But uh.. The problem is I'm 19 and live in a relatively secluded area of the US. The boobs that my car attracts are usually 12 years old. Gay!!!
