Wednesday night I JUST bought new tires for the first time for my Celica. I put 225/45/17s on and albeit I only have like 30 miles on them, I LOVE them.

From what i heard it all depends if you get low profile 40, 45 or 50. The the taller the tire the comfier ride you have... -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

So 40 or 45 or 50 makes a difference. However, these numbers are percentages of the tire width. So 225/45 is higher then 215/45 for example. Get it? By the way, I have 215/40/17 under it, and I think it's ok. But i'm used to a harder ride. I just put on new Uniroyal Rainsport tires, and so far they're doing well, haven't had a chance to test em good. -------------------- 1995 Toyota Celica GT -- 3SGE, 175hp -- Superstrut, LSD

225/45/17 is best, but if you are concerned with looks, it kinda depends on the width of the wheel
225/45/17 on a 17x7 will look a bit beefy 225/45/17 on a 17x7.5 is perfect 225/45/17 on a 17x8 is a little bit stretched |

You can get some 225/45 Kumhos from tire rack at $60 a piece.
How wide and what offset is your 17's OP. A generic answer would be 215/45 and 225/45. I had a set of 17x7s with 205/40, those were too much of a rubber band setup, changed it up to 215/45 and they were just about perfect. I also had a set of 17x8s with 225/45 and they looked good, 215/45s we a little bit of a stretch but it worked out well. Example of 215/45 on a 17x8 wheel. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2264/157923...3de3cf3.jpg?v=0 |
