so i will be graduating high school this upcoming may...I'm pretty excited yet i am still kind of bummed....this wednesday i am taking a visit up to Lincoln school of Technology to check out the campus and get a first person take on the High Performance Automotive program! I'm very excited. The program consists of engine modification, high performance suspension and exhaust systems, steering, engine building, etc. Basically everything that we love to do to our cars i am most likely going to be doing to all sorts of cars for a living....it really takes alot of stress off of going to college and growing up when you know you can go study and do for the rest of your life something that you really do have an interest in....Lincoln Tech also has a placement assistance program so that when you graduate the school actually helps you find a job! the school also has a really high placement %. so i thought i would share my excitement with you all

Nice! I hope it all goes well for you. I considered going into something like that, but I decided that I don't want to work on anybody's car but my own, and that it was just a hobby, so I changed my mind. Whatever you go into though, just make sure you stick to it 100% and don't let anything get you down.

yeah..i can understand that.....i just think it would be so awesome to work on nice cars all the time and learn the knowledge needed to do anything to my own vehicles......and with going into high performance i wont be the local mechanic putting the oil pump in grandmas lincoln...lol.....i'll be the guy dyno testing that new SRT 10 Viper.....or that New Celica i keep readin about online

Yeah man, I have a friend in that program. He puts together and takes apart viper engines now like milking a cow. First time I asked to see how he's doing that's all he boasted to me about.
Have lots of fun and as mentioned earlier; make sure u stick it out 100% hehe and have lots of degreaser w/e they call it for ur hands. However, my friend uses brake cleaner to wash off his hands =\ apparently it works very well.

it's good to hear you're excited about taking courses for something you like. i'm on the same boat as you right now except i'm taking mechanical engineering and one of the courses i'm taking now is thermodynamics where we learn to mathematically analyse and calculate horsepower, heat transfer, emissions, efficiencies, etc etc of any system on paper. it's extremely difficult, yet stimulating at the same time. kinda makes me want to start tuning/building engines... lol...

Wait a second, you're still in school? As much stuff as you've done to your car and as smart as you are (from what I've picked up in various threads) I kinda had you figured for being late 20's, early 30's. Seems like if anyone has a question about anything, you are right there with an answer so I just kind of assumed you had a LOT of experience with your car and everyone else's car. So now I'm assuming you still have that experience, just in a MUCH shorter time than I thought!

Yeah, like others say and i will echo... make sure you're happy.... I thought about this route until i realized what richee said, I only wanna work on my own cars. So I bought one and am learning about everything as I go. And then I'm at Purdue for business management through Purdue.... So, I'll have my two dream cars eventually, and if you're lucky I'll let ya work on my SRT 10 Viper and F430 haha I cant wait for college to be over

hmmmmm, this is actually relevant to my interests . i was very close to attending motorcycle mechanics institute at UTI and decided not to at the last minute because of the steep prices of courses... so i think ill look into lincoln school of technology around me (if there is anything close to here), thanks for the idea silverceli

just hope it doesnt cost $26000 for a year n a half course like UTI

it helps to live at home while in school , that way i save up for the things i want/need and i have access to my dad's garage with all necessary tools. but i still pay for my own courses though. by having available resources like a garage and tools, you will learn a lot from doing your own work. i've been doing mods since i was 15 when i had my beginner's license . i started off with stereo installation, moved on to body work fixing rust, i did a shaved door-handle job on my first car so i learned basic electrical circuits, then after a while you naturally pick things up.. btw, i'm in my early 20s

When I looked into lncopn tech I think the total cost dr my final degree was a grand total of 15,000? It's been a year or so since. Looked.

I'll be the grandma with the Lincoln that will SMOKE your Viper when that fuel pump is being installed to support the 460 I dropped into it
