dude, it sounds like you need to do a little more research, but don't listen to everyone, you may find out the hard way with what you buy or it might all work out. Good luck and I hope it goes well.

"dude we say this b/c you havent done any research.. wtf is a rear mount intercooler? that means youve done zero research.. your mechanic charged too much.. youve done zero research.." im sure a similar post like this is coming. ok, imma break this down, real simple like, so you can understand this. that quote, sums it up pretty nicely. when people like myself, and others, spend month after month (YEARS in some cases..i know it took me a solid year of research before i turboed), researching, studying, preparing, and executing these projects, and then take the time to present these results to the community, in the form of detailed writeups, that include pics and in some cases step by step instructions, and they are stickyed to the top of each forum for everyone to use, and people like you come around, and want every answer handed to them on a silver platter, expecting us to say "wow cool. your gonna turbo, heres the parts you need, this is how you install it" when all the info is right there if you take 5 minutes to look for it, it really gets old, and quite frankly, is insulting. the guys that have been here awhile, and have been there and done that, and are still running, are that way BECAUSE they took the time to learn, research and do things the right way. those that dont, end up like you, throwing money at projects when you dont really know what your even spending your money on, how this stuff is supossed to work, how it fits together, and why it works the way it does. hell, at least learn the basics, then come and ask any minor details you need to know, at least that way, it APPEARS like your trying to do somthing for yourself. to be honest, im pretty much sick of having to hold you guys' hands, guiding you every step of the way with these projects, when the info is right there, in the stickys if you would just READ THEM. i dont need you, or ANYONE to kiss my ass. i DID the research, i spent the HOURS and hours reading, printing, studing, and applying what i learned. you do the same. show a bit of smarts, READ THE STICKYS, PM members if needed, THEN come back and ask a question if you need help with somthing. im willing to bet people would be more than willing to give you good advice that you could actually use then. dont believe me? PM 6strngs , better yet, search and read ALL of his topics. that should let you know where you need to be with all of this. look, ill even set you on the road. here is a link, that has every topic 6strngs has started. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?act=Se...mp;highlite=%2B -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

There is a LOT of good information on this site about turboing you 5s, I have to agree that the best thing you can do for yourself is research, take your time and just read. Turboing the 5s is probably the most covered/accurate/in depth topic on this site, there really is EVERYTHING you need to know written on here.
These are in the stickies, read them several times and you will have a better handle of what you need to do, and the parts that are needed http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=5574 For the most part you dont have many options to chose from so you will need most of the parts listed. Your options are turbo selection and fuel managment. Everything else is pretty much straight up. Like Shannons, she has most of the parts listed but went with a t3 turbo and an SAFC http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=52431 --------------------

When I originally wanted to turbo on celicatech...i had no idea what i was doing and def was jumping into it way to early...i wish i wasnt a stubburn young kid who thought "no all these ppl who no what they are talking about are wrong." It would have prob worked out much better for me.
Hey I still need to learn alot..lucky Jim has been doing a lot of research bc it saves me...but i really should do more of my own. I no so much more then when i first when at it but i don't no nearly enough...so really take some time and read some stickys and learn what ur getting into bc its no walk in the park. -------------------- |

Well since its OBVIOUS presure or anyone else doesnt know any history about me, besides the 1 time i decided to post something on this site last summer, Ill give you guys my run down.. first time I starting reading this site.. aug 06, when I first bought my car. I looked at what other ppl did to their cars, and I said to myself hmm maybe sometime down the road when I get some money Ill try and do something like a turbo or a swap as well.. First time i read wilson's how to turbo ur 5sfe was jan 07.. thats when I was working full time.. looked at the basic parts needed and recommended.. sounds interesting.. but wouldnt a swap be easier?? probably a month later i looked at defgeph's post on how he swapped a 2nd gen gt4 into his st.. Which is probably the best sticky on this site in my opinion.. I know that sticky backwards and have it as one of my favorites.. it took roughly a year to determine what i wanted to do.. but i made a descision and went for a 3rd gen gt4 engine swap.. like i keep trying to tell ppl here.. MONEY and TIME was the reason the swap was failure.. not my lack of research.. if ppl would spend less time being a follower and assuming things about me, maybe i would have avoided having to defend myself every post I put up.. Presure, thats cool that you spent 4years plus on your research and that you actually had the TIME to had done your turbo, but unfortunatly not everyone has the time to do stuff as intense as a turbo or swap you know, nevertheless i was thrilled that you guys had done these amazing projects.. i commend you.. despite your opinions about me.. and trust me.. I know a great more about my car then you guys think.. oh and my intercooler questions was because I wanted to explore other options than FMIC... of course thats the best bet.. but the design is very time consuming.. which was why i was trying to work around that.. I really wish ppl would get a grip on soo many smart comments... i should have just stayed underground like my friends warned me.. but they are members of a BMW forum.. and I thought celica owners are more friendly.. apparently that isnt the case..

The difference between owning and modding a celica over a bmw is simple, CASH. Celicas are cheap to buy where as a bmw is much more. That means more kids will end up with a celica over a bmw and asking the same questions day in and day out. It becomes very redundent when the simple truth is everything is covered in the stickies and searches. If you can ask it someone else already has. Manny has been around since day ONE trying his best to answer anything people throw at him. It becomes difficult when no matter how much advice you give some people they dont listen and 2 months later theres a "My cars making a noise with blue smoke" post from the same people jumping head first into a project they had no buisness getting into in the first place.
