after jim had everything up here for his swap a few weeks ago, he found a set of 205 riser blocks from the same guy he got his clip from, so he snagged them up, and sent them up for me to shave the GT-4 off, and paint.

here are some pics.

first, i filled the gt4 writing with "marglass" fiberglass reinforced body filler.

once that was sanded:

then, went over that with some chromalite body filler and sanded it out:

then primer, sealer, basecoat, clearcoat.

great job manny. i got a Q though.

i was told if you spray the clear right after there is a risk of the clear peeling off really fast??? true or false
or does it depend on the type of paint used. i was told to wait a minimum of 5 days after base spray date to put the clear on kindasad.gif
but i never got around to doing the clear yet because i wanted my gold pearl in laugh.gif

ive never heard anything like that...what brand/type of paint are you using?

im using dupont "chromabase"

its flash time is 10-15 minutes.
once its "flashed off" (hand slick to the touch) you clear over it.

:edit:
looking at pics of your car, it already has a shine to it, did you use a single stage paint as your base, then are planning to clear over that?
i could see waiting a while if that was the plan, to allow the single stage to fully "gas out"

Those look awesome, im glad I decided to shave and paint them, came out better than I expected, really looks sharp. I cant wait to see them on the car, it will really finish off the cars exterior, the wing was a little lacking. And this weekend we will finally be able to get a pump in the car and get her to the dyno. Plus the fun of having a boosted car that you can finally boost!! I CANT WAIT FOR THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!! Looks great MANNY!

JIM

I think I'm the only one who embraced the gt-four wiring.
Either that or I'm just a ricer. smile.gif

As always, great work bro. You really need to open up a shop.
