i think there should be somebody (if the current moderators have their hands full) to update all the stickys in each section. i was reading through some turbo posts and they're like.. five years old. heck the turbo sticky hasn't been updated in 3 years.

im not saying that people shouldnt learn to search because personally, i also hate repetitive questions that could be solved if they had simply searched. however, there is tons of information on the website that could go in the sticky section so that people who dont search can at least read the stickys and have updated information.

edit to add: it IS true however that the stickys do have very valuable information, whether it be old or not. i just think an updated list, with more updated information (if there is any) would be viable.

i agree, i also think that if the stickys for each section were not hidden away in another link and if they were put at the top of each section there would be less and less repetitive questions asked. The stickys are kinda hidden away.

I'll try to have a look at them sometime, there are only really 2 of us on here at the moment, by the time i've checked through 5 or so pages of posts, i just can't be bothered if i'm perfectly honest

There are too many topics to be shown at the top of each section, they would take up the whole screen.

I agree, we don't want too many stickies, or it would just look cluttered at the top of each section's page.

it would be nice to have one section for sticky's at the main forum page (like how there's a general discussion, exterior, interior section), then inside it would have full of stickys categorized according to their topic (ie. exterior, interior, turbo, etc.).

that way when you want to find something, it's all in one page, instead of having to jump between sub-forums.

Yes, sometimes good information are on little threads.

i was thinking somthing like that last night....maybe a welcome area for new members, with all the stickys in one place...

problem with the pictures. Lets say i create a sticky, upload to my account, then no longer active anymore, and delete my pics, we have a sticky, with no pics...

thats about 30% of stickys. good info, no pics... if we had a way to store pics.

I agree, instead of all these floating pictures stored in other places, when becomes inactive, no pics with stickys. We definitely need a place to store pics on this site to keep the information intact.

Yeah, the problem is storage space. It all has to be paid for, and without a membership fee, who pays for it?

^ but that doesn't allow us to regulate what goes on there. We can't have many different people uploading to one account. Theres no control or discretion.

we really need you guys' help to update all the stickys.

#1, if you find dead links, PM a mod, we'll update the link if someone has one, or remove the link if not.

#2, 99% of the stickys are still open to reply to. if you see a thread that has old facts, that need updating, DO SO!! then let a mod know, and we can clean up the rest of the thread, or unsticky and sticky , or whatever needs to be done.

#3. if you see somthing specific, that needs to be changed, again, just PM a mod, (myself or luke ATM are your best bet as we are on most)

as far as pic storage, we have talked to chris about it before, and chris pretty much nixed it.
we tried to get him to set up a dontation account to offset the added cost, to no avail.

if someone wants to setup a universal photobucket account, thats fine with me, just PM me the link to it, and ill sticky it.

Rather than a universal photobucket account, would you (the mods) be open to being the "keepers" of the account? That way it would prevent any abuse that could ensue by having a universal account that everyone on the site has access too.

i wouldnt have a problem helping out with somthing like that, i just wouldnt want to have to upload everyones pics.
how would you propose we go about doing somthing like this?
i mean, how can we really restrict anyone from using it, for whatever purposes.
we would really have no way of keeping it to strictly 6gc related material (meaning no post a pic of yourself hosting and that kinda crap)...

LOL just playin'. I don't know, I'll think on that. It just would be a challenge to maintain if we just posted the password on the site, I'd think eventually someone would either start posting porn up to it (which eventually will get deleted by Photobucket) or maybe be stupid and delete other people's pictures or something. There's a lot of petty people in the world, and when they get butthurt, they get pretty effin' gay about it.

Griff, you're crazy...lol. True, mods may not have the time to upload or dedicate to it.

i 100% agree, and thats my biggest problem with it, and prolly chris' reason for not doing it as well.

I guess you'd just have to be discriminate with giving out the password...this would really be up to your own judgment much like moderatorship in general is.
