High heat wrap... then you'll litterly wrap them up. Use a ceramic paint first. You can leave the paint or wrap; depends on your unique siturataion. The wrap sometimes can cause the headers to rot out faster (primarily the cheap-o E-Bay headers) but it's better than nothing i suppose...

Here... Try this:

CLICKY

This will show you EVERYTHING there is to know about the 6th gen Celica. I'm not trying to be unhelpful here, but the more questions i answer, will lead to more questions being asked; and everything may not get covered. It's best to search out the info already sitting there, there are plenty of pros that know more than i; explaining everything in full. Keyword HEADER +WRAP and you'll learn all about header wrap. biggrin.gif

Have fun.

Just a thought... if you're running in to so much hassles and troubles with your emmisions and such, why not just leave it alone? its not like you're going to get 15 more hps with it anyway? and If you don't add the right exhaust, you're car would sound like it has a fart can. just my 2 cents.

Lol thanks D-Man

oh and the reason i want to do the header is cus i don't wan2 put a fart can on my car. i was gonnna put in a muffler...but that'd just make an obnoxious loud noise. I hate seeing ppl driving around with those on their pos cars and make all that noise. And putting in a header is more than wat ppl have around here. with the kinda money i make...i'm not doing anything big until after i graduate. lol.

How would headers "rot"? Just wondering...You can run a muffler, just get a decent one and run a cat-back.

yeah i've looked into the whole catback thing. lol. i don't have the money to drop the entire thing in. i'd just be happy with the header biggrin.gif

oh and i second that question: the ebay header'll rot?? kindasad.gif

Header wrap holds water. Water + steel = rust Cheaper steel like ebay headers will rust faster.

no, the wrap is very efficient actually, But it has it's previously stated drawback. It depends on the quality of the header that you get; and how long you're trying to make it last. I've seen alot of people with wraps and they're perfectly happy with it; then some people (usualy with the e-bay headers) will cuss them to no end. But if you're getting ebay stuff, then you should expect for it to be ebay quality. obviously more expensive (higher grade steel) headers are going to last MUCH longer and have less problems later on in life. It's all up to you and what you're buying dude.

I clicked it and did a search for rotting headers....Yeah didnt find anything frown.gif Dont want you guys to be thinking im a motard or anything, but how does water wind up getting absorbed by the wrap (just curious)? Im totally aware of corrosion (and all the fun types of it, exfoliation, granular, etc...(part of the AWAT training I had to endure) and understand that low quality steel corrodes much faster. I imagine that if you had put something to prevent rust (say a high temp powdercoat? still looking up that one now) and wrapped it youd have the best of both worlds...in theory.

not to be a nuisance or anything...but i've just tried searching all over the place trying to find something on installing a short ram. Not fun when i can't find what i'm looking for man. tongue.gif I guess i'm computer dumb or something. i have trouble finding stuff.

i know this is WAY off subject but i don't feel like starting an entirely new thread. I want to install my SRI tomorrow and i just wanted to see a summary for installing it. I've heard its easy...just unbolt everything dealing with the stock filter and put the SRI on right? problem is...i heard something about removing a sensor or something or other.... confused.gif

I know there is a good pic of a set up on here somewhere, just have to find it. Its what I used to set mine up. That sensor is/should plug right up on the SRI.

Yeah, I think thats money better invested. You'll more likely see results with a cat back system. Thats not to say a header isnt a good idea though.
