WTF does that have to do with anything?!?!

it really all depends on your pocketbook, and your ultimate goals.
a gt-35 is a larger turbo, and will require fuel and engine management upgrades to get good results from.

Just invest in a good electronic boost controller and crank it up. You'll take your Boyfriends stock STi any day.

Get a boost controller, a 3in downpipe, and a full 3in exhaust. You should have no problem beating his STI.

beware of those "kits"

what they say they can do, and what it actually can "do" are 2 differnt things.

post a link to the kit your looking to buy. Some kits skimp on "necsities" to keep the price down.

What other modifications do you have on your car? Just putting on a big turbo isnt the ideal solution to making the car go faster. If you have on a standard ECU then you wont be able to run more than 1.2 bar as you will hit fuel cut (For the love of god do not buy a fuel cut defender, they are bad news).....if the engine has standard internals, then you will be pushing you luck beyond 1.3 bar.
The standard turbo is fast spooling and will run well at around 1.1 bar. Dont waste your money on a turbo without the supporting mods.....first off as mentioned get yourself a good electronic boost controller....an Apexi AVCR would be a good choice...a bit more complex than most others, but well controllable and will certanly give your car a bit of a kick. Beyond that you`ll want to look into cooling mods....a stand alone ECU etc...but dont forget about suspension....a well set up car can often out perform a more powerfull car.

Sti's aren't that fast. I'd do the basic bolt ons like a boost controller, exhaust, intake, etc. I'd recommend a manual boost controller, they're super easy to install and hold rock steady. Hell my manual on my dsm holds 30psi all the way to redline and it was only 50 bucks. Use the money you saved over a fancy electronic boost controller and buy other go fast goodies.

35r is a nice sized turbo, just make sure you have all the supporting mods like people have already said. You can't just throw a big turbo at a car and expect it to make power.

Celicia, you might want to do some research before upgrading your car. A gt35r is a REALLY big turbo. You cant just buy a kit with the biggest turbo and be done with it. You have to upgrade your fuel system, buy a whole new ecu that can be retuned, and in some cases even rebuild the whole motor to handle those kinds of power levels.

You should do the basic mods like exhaust and boost controller first. You'll be surprised at how much power you can get just out of those two simple things. Then later on as you do more research you can decide what turbo is best for your needs and budget.

If you want to be pointed in the right direction... look into a t3/t4 street brawler kit from KOracing, a td06 20g, or a gt2871 from ats racing.

You'll need supporting mods to suppor that turbo. It'll be slower than it is if not.

Boost Controller, fuel upgrade, ems.

Research is the cornerstone of success in anything you do.. which is a reason why I joined this site and made this post. Im exploring many options.. trying to see what is best, ive been searching for a good upgrade for roughly a year now.. but im not a big fan of aftermarket parts.. I believe the more you mod the less life your car will have.. but at the same time I enjoy driving a fast speeds! gives me a fantastic feeling of joy smile.gif come spring time ill have a decision.. as for now ill continue to read up and see whats best. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL smile.gif!!!

I think by the type of question you're asking that you still have quite a bit to learn about boost.

As do you, based upon your next statement

QUOTE (NuclearHappineS @ Dec 25, 2008 - 10:34 AM) *
Something like a CT27 full kit (with bolt ons and romtune) can push you up to 350hp easy, and Aaron is a very trusted guy with a proven setup.

Buying a CT27 over a CT20B is no upgrade at all. She is running A GEN3 so no rom tunes avavailbe either. No need, for she is currently running the stock 540's.

Dont even think about gt35r unless you wanna build a weekend car. that turbo can produce much more power that st205 can handle. you will have many transmisson proplems over 1.5 bar. ''est 500whp''
i am planning to use a smaller a/r exhoust housing and recude the boost. because i am tired of breaking things.

I will suggest you the t3-t4 SB46 or SB50 Koracing kit. But you may need some more fuel and some kind of tuning EMS.

Tell us what are you current mods, it will help us to help you!

Hi Tufy,

Thanks for the heads up.. ive been reading up on the gt35 kit and doesnt look like a good deal at all. I definitly will have transmission problems if I go that route. ill reply to this thread again if I see any other kits that sparks interest

KO Racing T3/T4 turbo kit
ATS racing TD06 turbo kit

here's two turbo kits that are much more suited to a stock or near-stock engine. Since you already have 540cc injectors because you have a 3rd gen 3sgte, you might not even need to upgrade the fuel system, though an EMS would be a very good idea. One of those kits, coupled with a boost controller, a 3" exhaust, and a straight intake would take an STI easily tongue.gif
