there is no way that in 1998 they would have a Carlos Sainz edition st202.
All CS editions were on the st185s, not the 6 gens.
Not even the st205 were called Carlos Sainz editions, they were called WRCs and they have their own badge.

The plate was put there by someone who thought it was cool. That's all.

for you doubters, i did a bit of reserch and this is one of the things i found. Seems they were indeed a itallian limited edition of 202's.

italian forum link

didnt do a translation, you dont need to, with my very very limited italian i can work out what that dude is talking about.

Very very interesting, i wonder how many other special edition models we dont know about exists.

case closed.

This is not any special edition... ST202 is absolutely common in Europe. That GT in the picture is just common pre-facelift GT. Nothing especial. If you open those those pictures you may noticed some of them are in Japanese... so... it's not like "SS-III for sale in Europe". Not at all...

here... I have searched info about your Celi in my EPC. Japanese database showed nothing. European gave me this:

so common Euro GT... and about CS edition... if I remember right they were made in 1995 only...last 5gen celis ever made...

malpaso well thats bullsh!t, no *T18* series celicas were made in 1995, there production stopped in 1993 (there is a very very low ammount of 185's in the world as a 1994 (jan 1994) but technically they say its a 1993 anyway.

Clearly with what recycle put up it is a model.

question anwsered.

Do you really think is adequate to message "if I remember right they were made in 1995 only" answer the way you have answered? In my opinion you must have troubles with people around because of your "communication skills"...

however back to fallout's car. Question is if he has CS edition celica. His VIN is saying "NO". No special modification at all (engine, transmition, body is the same as common Euro GT). However if you look in that Recycles magazine there is one shot where the same plate as fallout has in his car is. That IMHO means Italian dealers made this "edition" for local market to support sales of celica only. That's what I believe it is... no another model, just edition...

so my answer is: for EPC it's common Euro ST202 model, for Italian dealers Carlos Sainz special edition.

note: I wish someone would translate specification and what made this edition special. If it's just badge, special paint and color of seats or not... That's real valueable information!

Well from the photos, looks like:

* Special edition red/black cloth seats (same as UK SR and JDM special editions) with option for leather seats
* Passenger airbag (same as SR and facelift GT for the UK)
* Different stereo
* Storage compartment beneath stereo
* Sports suspension? (if so, probably the same as the UK SR)
* Ltd edition badge on center console
* Alloy gear knob
* Red stiched leather steering wheel and gear gaitor
* 5-piece mats as standard?
* Washer jets on front lights? (someone mentioned it but not sure if based on fact or just a random example)
* Rear spoiler deleted

there was no xT18x series celicas ( 5th gen) made after jan 1994 (which were still known as a 93)...where is the confusion??

its clear its a 202 thats got all the best bits you could get on a non "four", and special edition plaques etc. Just like there is WRC series ST184's (just have gtfour seats, better trim then pov models etc, but arnt really any faster)

anyway good work bloke, its nice to have a special edition celica.

this thread should be close as the question is anwsered

Does the ST202 Euro GT generally come with red and black seats in 1998? There are some interesting differences between that '98 CS and a '98 JDM

Note: this is all off the top of my head, It would be cool if someone could point out some differences with the '98 EU ST202 GT

Tail lights ----- '98 CS: Pre facelift | '98 SS-II: Facelift | '98 SS-III: Facelift <--- thats a given, facelift tails are JDM only.
Interior -------- '98 CS: Red & black | '98 SS-II: Red & black | '98 SS-III: Red & black
Floor mats ----- '98 CS: "Celica", wide mats, not contoured | '98 SS-II: "Celica", contoured | '98 SS-III: "Celica Hyper sports", contoured
Steering wheel - '98 CS: 3 spoke stitched with airbag | '98 SS-II: 4 spoke stitched with airbag | '98 SS-III: 3 spoke stitched with airbag
Gear knob ----- '98 CS: Alloy gear knob??? What is this?? Definitely not Toyota | '98 SS-II: Stitched leather | '98 SS-III: Stitched leather
Alloy wheels --- '98 CS: 5 spoke, Toyota 15" | '98 SS-II: Toyota 16" | '98 SS-III: Toyota 6 Spoke 16" (Although they generally seem to sport white 16" OZ racing mags, Unsure if this is a factory option, But identical to the WRC ST205 mags)
Bodykit -------- '98 CS: Sideskirts | '98 SS-II: Sideskirts, 3 Post spoiler | '98 SS-III: Sideskirts, Front splitters, Rear splitters, 2 post spoiler on riser blocks
Engine --------- '98 CS: Silvertop 3S-GE | '98 SS-II: Redtop 3S-GE | '98 SS-III: Redtop 3S-GE
Suspension --- '98 CS: MacPherson | '98 SS-II: MacPherson | '98 SS-III: Superstrut

Hmmmm in the bottom left corner of the magazine it says that from a standstill our silvertop 3S-GE powered cars will do 0-400M in in 15.37 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's awesome!!!

someone close the thread ffs.

Cuts_the_Pilot i think you'll never get the point. Nobody is confused except you. Malpaso made one simple mistake, instead of 3 pressed 5. It was so obvious that nobody even comment on that mistake except you. I dont think that you behave properly to a person that helped most people in these forums (including me) with parts and info at no personal gain. Malpaso has a vast knowledge in celicas. Just because you have a GT-4 doesn't automatically give you the knowledge or the right to respond to anyone in that way. We are all proud of our cars.

I have never seen a SS3 with GT4 wheels. In brochure SS2 has 15" steel wheels (like mine when it was imported in cyprus) and SS3 5 spoke 15" whites. Not sure if are OZ but for sure are not 16". Only GT4 came with 16". On 1996 brochure the white rims are TOM'S option

Did you not read my post? Red/Black cloth seats were only available in Europe on special edition models such as the UK SR. They were also available on certain exterior colours (red, black and silver IIRC) on the JDM models.

You're probably right about the SS-II, I stand to be corrected, however...

On the Beams SS-III I've seen most all of them sport 16" oz racing mags...... definitely not 15" because they would look like they have family car tyres with that stupid 55 - 60 profile

this shows the 16x7.5" factory alloy wheels of my SS-III with 215/50R16 tyres

EDIT: I noticed the white wheels you're talking about which are 15" and seem to have a small Toyota cap in the middle..... However these are not the wheels I commonly see... I found a member who has the mags I see the most on beams SS-III's

The thing that makes me think that somehow OZ was a factory option on SS-III's is that they all seem to have them (the Jap imports ive seen in NZ) and they are identical to the TTE WRC GT-Four mags, Plus OZ Racing is one of the decals on it

look at everyone gettin cut, i assumed that he knew there was no *T18* made in 1995, i was simply taking the piss, take a chill pill people.

are those stock ssIII wheels are the same as the facelift 205 wheels, by the looks of it.

and as for the gearknob apon closer inspection it looks like the carlos sainz signature knob, a friend of mine has one in her ST185 Group A Rallye. Not a nice knob to shift with, but your prob right with it being a trd thing, i just know it has his signature on the top.

Yeap, 1996 SS-III and GT-Four have the same 16" 6 spoke wheels.....

I noticed those white 15" ss3 mags on some of the fotos on this site........

they look more like 7th gen wheels on closer inspection, I have never ever ever seen those wheels here in NZ.... it's been 9 times out of 10 those 16" OZ racing I showed above for the Beams SS-III.
I've also seen other Pre-Beams SS-III's sport the same GT-Four wheels that I have.

So your car is not actually a CS model though right? You just made that badge and put it in your car?
