order one with aux input. very difficult choices to make.
1. Fm modulators are crap. 2. Tapping into your stereo will void the warranty. sorry not many good choices. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I hardly log in anymore, last login Today Sept 6 2019, and I was forced just to clarify a post. LOL
If you PM me and I dont respond, dont fret or cry. Im alive, better post your questions in the thread below, maybe I log back in 2grfe Swapped... Why I chose the 2GR, before you ask read here... Yeah I could give that a try. Would love it coming out of all the speakers tho. I will check the back of my head unit and see what connections there are!

My head unit is about 5 years old, it was at the time a basic model from Blaupunkt, and it has a aux-in in the back. The only problem I had was to find the right cables to the iso contact, but ebay is good for rare parts.
So, are you sure that your head unit don't have aux-in? If it dosn't...buy a new one |

I have an Eclipse head unit that's about 8 years old now and it also had the AUX input in the back. I bought one of those aux-in to i-pod cables off of ebay to give it a shot and sure enough it didn't work. The problem is, my head unit has to be told a device is connected to the auxiliary (just like the remote line on an amp that turns it on) and will only activate that connection when it does. So since my ipod could do no such thing, I couldn't get the auxiliary input to work. So before you buy a cable, make sure your head unit either has the ability to select auxiliary input in one of it's menus or that your unit doesn't have to detect a specific device connected to it.

Have you tested to put a constant +12V/+5V so that your head unit always thinks that the aux is on...or put a switch in their so you can choose? My headu unit hade the option in the sofware menus to I didn't had that problem |

No, I have decided to go with a more efficient, cleaner solution.
Upgrade the headunit -------------------- |

i just got a new alpine head unit for my car for 160$ from crutchfield. it comes with the ipod cord and charges/displays your music on the headunit. ive also got a sirius unit that i wanted to use without fm transmittor connected and found that they make a plug that converts your cd changer connection to rca input. solved both of my problems for a decent price. dont know if u got the new one yet but thats what i did.
