Ok so i have a 96 celica GT convertable, but i need a new top which would cost me like $2000, which i dont have to spend on a top right now. One of my friends has a Celica ST with no motor, so im just curious how easy it would be to swap my motor into the car.

Any help or information is awesome

you'd have to swap EVERYTHING out of the GT.

engine, tranny, axles, mounts, steering rack, harness, ect.
other than that, and drilling the holes for the passanger side engine mount (the detents are there, you just have to drill the holes) its not a big deal wink.gif

I don't know where you got your information, but I have a 95 convertible and needed to replace the top. I don't remember where I found it, but I found a replacement top (professional) with rear glass for under 500$. ANd I'm looking just now and I can't find one for over 800$. But good luck with whatever route you take.

2000 may be the cost to get it done by a shop

I don't know where you're finding $2000 for the top to be replaced. I did mine myself, the top cost just about $400 with the glass defroster window and everything. A local upholstery shop wanted $800 for top/glass and installation. Find a new shop, 2 grand is a ripoff.

And it's really not bad to do, mine came with an instruction manual. I took the car to my parents' place and did it with my dad over a weekend (and that was with plenty of beer breaks).

*EDIT* If you're capable of all the motor swap work, you can definitely do a top replacement.
