hey guys, i've got 18" x 7.5" 5-spoke TRD wheels that are currently front rubbing on my 6gc..
the wheels have a +42 offset on 225/40/18 pirelli pzero tires.
so what could be the problem???

roll my fenders? how would i properly execute that? i was wonderin if a 5mm or 7mm wheel spacer would fix the problem.. if so, then which would be best fit? 5mm or 7mm? let me know.

rolling your fenders for the first time might not be the best idea, paint can easily crack if you do not execute it properly. What kind of suspension are you running? Rolling the fenders can be done with a tool that can be ordered from Tirerack (expensive) or a couple lightweight hammers, or the very old school way of heating and baseball bat (louisville slugger)

stock suspensions so far.. have trd springs in the garage that are still in package.. might be getting 10mm spacers now after having read the wheel offset page to achieve the flush look and fix the problem. yay or nay??

If it rubs outside and you buy spacers it will make it worse. If it rubs inside and you buy spacers it will make it better.

Would an adapter be required?? +42 offset with 8mm spacers= +34?? i've gotta know for sure before purchase..

I believe any spacer 10mm and under is just fine on stock studs.

sounds more like it is rubbing on the suspension side than the fender based on the specs provided. It is not wide enough nor low enough offset to rub on the fender.

I believe you have wrote enough for roght answer...

1. roll fender is nonsense. You said you have problem with front. Rolling fender is good only for rear...
2. is your trouble wheel arch or fender?

a) if it's wheel arch -> spacer will do the job
b) if it's wheel arch nothing but new wheel would help kindasad.gif

however... according to numbers you have posted... let's have some math:

I have 205/50/16 on 16'' x 7.5'' offset +35 - no rubbing even with lowered front for 25mm

you have 225/40/18 on 18'' x 7.5'' offset +45 and you car is not lowered...
so... your rim is the same width and for 7mm closer to wheel arch (7mm more far from fender) but your wheel with that size of tire is bigger (diameter is for 26mm bigger and width is also plus 20mm). So... in my opinion your wheel is for 17mm closer to wheel arch and for 3mm closer to fender than my is. That means you more probably rub wheel arch that fender.

you have only two ways to go:

1.: buy spacers 5mm or better 10mm -> to be far from wheel arch for 10mm (if you have chance for custom size of spacer I would use 7mm spacer cuz there is still the chance you may start rubbing with fender not the arch this time)
2.: buy 225/35/18 tires -> to have the same diameter of wheel (only for 4mm bigger diameter than my ones!!!)

thanks for all the replies guys.. much appreciated! i'll be getting custom 7 or 8mm spacers then for all 4 wheels or just for the front? by summer, i'll also incorporate 215-35-18 tires for the front.

so i bought some 16" rims and 225/50r16 toyo tires a month ago. So each time i make a u turn it rubs a little on the inside of the time. So if im making a left u-turn then only the front left tire will rub. The same goes for the right front tire when i making a right u-turn.





This is where it rubs at on both sides.


What do you guys think, like my rims???

your tire is to big mate... you should have profile 45 with that wide tire like 225 is at 16inch rim...

really hmm well alot of members have been saying they have 225/45r17 which is similar in size as the tire that i have and they have had no problem.. but i know what you mean ill get some 45 profile tires next time thanks!
