I have a 96 celica GT and it has 177,000 miles on it. It still runs very well and only smokes at start up (bad valve seals). Anyway, I am going to get the head rebuilt professionally and installed. Everything will be new, tight, and clean. My question is this...With a cylinder head that is brought back to OEM spec and then bolted onto a block that still has 177K on it, am I going to have problems? Will pressure be an issue? Is it likely the piston rings might get too over stressed or something? If the block is good, I shouldn't worry right?

you will not have any problems, but why stop with the head. pull engine and refresh it. new bearings and rings and gaskets.

Well, my money is a little limited and I know I can get another 100K on my block as long as the new head doesn't conflict with it. Yeah i'd say just rebuild the head for now if you cant afford the Block. might as well get one thing done. My block has 200K on it and i havent had any problems. although im also getting those leakey valve seats so a head rebuild is in the works as well |
