Hey guys i am in my final stages of buying a zenki 240sx SE but then this kouki came up that looks REALLYNICE or say has all the plans of exterior what i was gonna do.......BUT if u look at the last pic on this thread, u can see rust building up on the engine bay...and the owner has told me he has brought it from New York(known for cold snowy weather which builds rust)
http://zilvia.net/f/cars-sale/240690-fs-so...ds-ksports.html

Owner has told me, The frame looks clean, where there is rust it is occurring at some fasteners and on some of the exhaust.
There is some rust, mostly bolts, and slight edges of metal where the powder coat rubbed off. I don't think it is too extensive. This car was originally in new york, but wasn't driven much during the winter months.

Is buying a car with rust worth it or do i need to avoid these cars?

well...for a pretty reasonable answer...If i were you, i wouldnt be so concered about "rust in the engine bay". The S platform from nissan is prone to rusting out in the frame rails, and on S14s in perticular, the rocker sills. From my experience with S14s, I wouldnt worry about a bit of surface rust on under carraige bolt heads, but if you see a spec of rust on the frame rails or rocker sills, walk away. If the owner refuses to send you pics of the underside, dont even bother. As long as its just surface rust, you have nothing to worry about. If its gonna be anything bubbeling, then forget it.

Just get a car, if there is a little rust, fix it! That's all! If your going to buy a 10+ year old car, it is very difficult to find one without any kind of rust. Unless (like previously stated), it is in imaculate condition and has hardly ever been driven. If you want a car without any rust at all, buy something new.

Not trying to add to all the other disrespectful, yet true, comments, but seriously dude, if your worried about rust, oh good god, i'd hate yo see you in a car with power....

Here's what you need to do...get on your internet filtering device, and BLOCK all the automotive related websites,....maybe you could get into...oh, i don't know....Bicycles....they might work out for you better.

don't call us idiots and assholes, use some common sense before you touch your keyboard, if you want to know a specific thing about a s14 then go on a 240 site and ask away..........you come on to this site and ask stupid questions that are unrelated to a celica and get mad when ppl fire back at you........take a look in the mirror before yea call us idiots and assholes again....like honestly "is rust bad?" what did you think the replies would be to that
