hows this going?

Slowly. Like lubu says, no EWD makes progress very difficult. I have the climate control head unit controlling the recirculate/fresh air function automatically. I think I have solved most of the major problems now - just need to work out whether a different air compressor is necessary or not and figure out a connection to the engine ECU I think.

Update: (10th January 2009). I now have the recirculate/fresh air function, the blower speeds, the feet/face/screen direction function, the heated mirrors and rear window and the climate control (auto direction and auto speeds) function all working. I may or may not have the aircon function working - it is too damn cold to tell!

I still have to fit a sensor and complete some connections to the ECU so that diagnostics work. I also haven't determined if I need to change my compressor or not (as noted above on 3rd June 2008). Overall, though I am very happy. My journeys to and from work over the next couple of weeks should determine whether the setup is working correctly or not.

Summary of unconnected wires (for personal reference):
* yellow/black wire. One end is in the engine bay ready to route to the compressor, the other end is sitting near the ecu ready for connecting to the correct pin.
* outside air temp wires. Need to remind myself as to the current situation regards routing/wiring
* yellow and blue/yellow wires off the black plug. Blue/yellow goes to ECU. Either C22.17 [ATS] (if the other end goes to ac amp) or F12.2 [CF] (if other end goes to engine bay)
* following on from previous point, does ATS or CF need to be connected?
* does ACA need to be connected?

Other things that need to remind myself of the solution to before I can do a write-up
* Where did the purple/white wire that replaced the blue/white wire end up?

I have the heater part of climate control working - had it working for a couple of months - just in time for the cold snap. But I think the aircon part isn't working. Either that or it needs a recharge. Haven't had enough warm days to really try it out yet thou. Obviously if the a/c isn't working, I'll need to figure out why not.

the Gen5 ewd for auto climate is near enough identical apart from a few wire colours that are different.
