Yeah, mine was fixable but I made the mistake of going through the insurance. They wrote it off and distroyed the registration document so I would have had to re-register it as a write off, wiping out any residual value left in the car. There was also the possibility that VOSA (Vehicle standards agency here in the UK) might still have refused to put the car back on the road, even after I had spent the money on it! I didn't want to take the risk, so had to let it go.

But you're right, the damage is scarily similar!

That actually doesnt look that bad....I fixed up my 2000 and it was much worse than this

its not good practice, and i presume that due to the circumstances you were not able to do so. but after a collision, have the car quickly looked over for any damage that is not easy to fix (besides just bolt on a new fender, headlight, hood, bumper, etc) and then make the decision to call the insurance or not

i absolutely hate auto insurance, even on a new car - pay out your nose, for the possibility of them low balling the hell outta you, just so you can pay out your nose even worse the next year lol

congrats on the new car, looks very nice! (even though i have no clue what it is)
