i just rebuilt my 5sfe motor about two months ago and have had no problems at all and it runs great other than i recently noticed my anti freeze was low so i filled it back up and checked it about two days later and noticed it was low again and im not sure what might be going on. and i dont have any in my oil and the head was pressure checked and what not before rebuild so im sure its not that so any ideas or help would be greatly apreciated.

is there any fluid where your parking? could just have a crack in the radiator, i got one in mine but its tiny so i only have to fill it up every month or so.
turn it on and let it run and look under the car to see if any is dripping out and check the plastic guards at the bottom. could also be your radiator cap is faulty and not sealing properly

make sure your hoses are ALL the WAY on! and that the hose clamps are completely around the hose, dont let any edge be falling off, otherwise youll lose fluid.

it may have been rebuilt but do a block check anyway, u might have a blown head gasket if there is no puddle under your car or under the carpet by the passenger side of the dash.

we had the block checked also before the rebuild and if a had a bad head gasket i wouldnt i also have oil leaking?


no there is no fluid and ok ill do that tommorrow and see what i can find

pressure test the cooling system, some leaks only happen once the car is hot and you're driving down the road.

besides the obvious, you can also have a bad head gasket or a bad head. of course, leaks, need a pressure test, etc.

not unless the gasket blew by an oil passage, which is pretty hard to do, the oil passages are the outer most part of the gasket usually. most of the time its the coolant ports that blow since they are so close to the combustion chambers.

ok well if i did have a bad head gasket and since the coolant would be entering the combustion chamber wouldnt it be smoking or steaming out my exhaust? and sorry if it seems like im questioning you im just trying to troubleshoot

well i will try and run a pressure check on it today and let it run for awhile and check all my hoses. everybody thanks for the help and ill keep you posted

if its a small leak then it would all most likely be burnt up b4 it got out of your exhaust, an easy way to tell would be to run the car for an hour or so, then let it sit for a while till it cools comp. then pull your spark plugs and look for fluid on your pistons. good luck, and let us know.
