what solution do you fill the parts washer with? any time i used one, it was always some oily stuff?

its a mix of "gunk" brand heavy duty parts washer solution, (2 gallons) and ~10gallons of kerosene.

head is on, i also did the valve seals while the head was off, (it helps that dustin had them laying around..lol) and as a side note ...a tranny drain/fill bolt fits perfectly in the hole in the head where the egr normally bolts on. wink.gif

What about the port in the intake manifold? Are you just going to fab up a plate to block that port?

installed the oil and water pumps this morning, and got the cams back in, pics later.

a tip for those installing cams, with the motor in the car.
buy a set of feeler gauges with a angle on them, like this:

it makes it much easier to check the shim clearance on the exhaust cam.
i had a few shims that were out of spec, because i didnt properly check them when it was installed in the car.
with the angle of the motor, and the angle you have to insert the feeler gauge at, if your not carefull to be sure the feeler gauge is flat against the shim, you can easily get a false reading, that makes you think the shim is within spec, when in fact is can be still too small.

Isn't there a debate MR2OC or other about this. Where some builders break in under full boost and some baby the hell outta it

good start. id make a point about the fake Walboros out on Ebay too. make sure you are getting a genuine Walboro. because they look identical.

looks good manny...as for the break in period...i wouldnt say a couple thousand...i think after a few hundreed or more you can start to turn the boost back up and get on it a little more...by 800-1000 miles everything should be pretty sound. great work so far though...i cant wait to see this thing in person

maybe, idk.

yea, dan, some guys say to smash it hard from the get go, others say to baby it awhile.

naa, tweak, no dragon trip for us, especially with the baby.
yup, harbor frright had the parts washer on sale, it was a great deal for 80$.

There are a lot of really smart people on mr2oc, and a lot of really dumb ones. tongue.gif
I think the best rule to follow is the same guide lines the manufacture gives you when you buy a brand new car. Take it easy, avoid highways, and dont maintain a constant speed for an extended period of time for the first 1000 miles.
