i was wondering if any one knew of shimless buckets that could be ran on a 5s. im doing a rebuild which will in time be turboed and wanted to replace the buckets while i had the motor apart. thanks for any help

iirc the zz series engines are what the 3s guys use. and i do believe the shims are the same between 5s/3s

I've read that the 3s guys use the 1zz shimless buckets, BUT I don't think it works for the 1st gen 3s right?? I mean you can interchange head parts between the 2nd gen and 3rd gen heads, but the 1st gen heads are totally different. IIRC the 3rd gens had shim-under bucket.

prob a stupid question but what could be used on a 7a? same 1zz buckets, or am i just dreaming again? lmao

i think the 7a uses the same size bucket as the 5s, steff (hurley97) knows for sure

i was told the shimless buckets would work if the head was 91+. the shim has to be a 31mm not the 28mm so we'll find out and ill be sure to post if it works.

2nd gen 3sgte's use 2zz shimless buckets

i've heard that 1zz shimless buckets fit 5sfe's but i am not 100% sure & can't comment from personal experience.

Gen II 3SGTE uses 1ZZFE buckets.
I don't know if the 2ZZGE has the same size or not, but if it's different it's not going to work on a Gen II 3SGTE.

alltracman you're correct ... i got my ZZ motors confused - duh.

I did some searching around on mr2oc.com & 1ZZ MR-S shimless buckets will fit Rev2 5sfe's since they are 31mm & not 28mm like the earlier 5sfe motors which had "small" buckets.
