i installed the 460 injectors yesterday. i used the simple build base MAP function in the FIC. the software asks for stock injector size and new injector size. it then calculated a base MAP. engine ran a tad rich so i pulled some fuel. no problems running perfect, but i have a fuel leak around injector 1 so i have to check that out.

Thanks, oh i figured out why my valve train sounds like a diesel engine too. all my intake valves are .006 loose. i dont understand how that happened. exhaust valves are perfect...im going to build a tool so i dont have to pull the cam.

some info on the FIC

well, how its hooked up is by intercepting the crank + signal. the FIC has an input and output, so its inbetween the crank signal and the ECU. the injector signals flow the other way out if the ECU into the FIC box then to the injectors.

the software is very user friendly. right click the fuel MAP and select build base MAP. input new injector size and stock injector size. it automatically fills the cells with settings.

i couldnt get a straight answer on stock injector (210-220) so i used 215 and im using RX7 460 injectors. so for anything below boost levels has a value of -53. as boost increases it is adding fuel.

Timing works the same way, you can pick -1 degree for every pound of boost, or -2 degrees for evey psi. and so on.

The FIC can only retard timing, it cant add. so far im really pleased with it. ill put the turbo system back on soon. i have a small fuel leak at #1 injector so i have to check that out.

just a small update. im still running in N/A mode. still have the 460 injectors in and running the FIC. i havent had a single lick of problems and im getting about 28 MPG in town. i have done NO tuning to the FIC. im running on the base calibration maps that the software generated +1 for the FIC. i really need to get an RC bumper so if anyone has one or knows of one for sale, let me know!

Update....Well i hate to say it but im not a big fan of the FIC anymore. again it could all be because im lacking some tuning. I think all my problems will be solved if i get the 3S-GTE MAP sensor. right now im clamping the stock MAP sensor and i think its just messing with everything. no matter how much fuel i dump into the fuel MAP the stock ECU is overriding it. the FIC and stock ECU are fighting waaay too much. plus im also suffering from the "dirty" toyota sensors issue. apparently toyota signals are very dirty and the the FIC has a hard time with that.

well to make a short story long... i got the plugs and pins to make my own jumper harness so i can use my AEM EMS for my All-Trac on the 5S-FE. having a full standalone will make it soooo much easier to tune.

THAT is where it is at.
once you get that hooked up and running right, i smell great things for team 5sfte! smile.gif
interested in a set of cams for that beast? +30whp on the top end... wink.gif

I just talked to Aaron at ATS Racing mentioning the EMS idea and he had never done that setup before. He did say that he doesnt see any reason why it wouldnt work. i have the wiring diagrams for both the 5S and 3S here so i guess all i have to do is figure out the pin changes.

He also mentioned that he has a few Gen 2 MAP sensors for a good price if anyone is looking for them.

i cant wait to see some screenshots of that.

well i have most of the pinouts figured out. most of them are the same. but there are a few small differences. Manny, Dt Tweak, Jim, perhaps you can help with this.

the 5S Distributor has a G+ signal which i believe is the cam position, that relates to the G1 on the 3S. the 5S also has a crank position sensor that labeled NE, there is also an NE on the 3S. are they the same? the 3S-GTE ECU also has a G2 and G- for the distributor. what are they?

Another difference is that the 5S has a radiator input? its pin C15 lables CF, there is no 3S equivalent?

G1 sends crankshaft angle to the ecu
G2 is the same as G1, but is 180* out from G1
G- Ground fro G1,G2 and NE

Look inside the 5s dizzy to see if there is a 24 tooth trigger wheel. Because the 3s has one. NE is the positive signal for the 24 tooth wheel. It sends the engine speed and crankshaft angle to the ecu. Sorry got off topic, the whole 24 tooth wheel made me think of the honda dizzy haha

I am working on the Honda ecu to work with the 5sgte right now, but having issues, maybe could be a bad burn or messed up jumper wiring. I doubt its the wiring since I went through it over and over again.

ok i have all the answers i need i think. i have labeled all the wires and started sodering. its not going to be pretty. this is very fustrating. i have just about reached the point where im going to buy a premade harness like the one i wired in my FIC and just cut and paste the correct pinout. ill will post the schematic when im done and everything is working. it will be nice having a stand alone for the 5S-FTE, too bad its so $$$$
