YES! Finally got a 6th GEN TODAY!!! I am so excited, and you guys definitely underrate the power of the 5 speed gt
This thing flys and handles corners crazy! a lil over rev from 3rd goin to 4th is a huge jump in MPH

Coming back from cleveland my stepdad got it from 80-120 in 5th gear like it was nothin, and he also said he felt more gas to be pressed

I got a 96' GT 5 Speed, Black nice as hell paint is awesome no rust on body what so ever, we just built a custom cai and fit it in in like 20 minutes definitely gave an awesome woosh when in neutral i am already in love

It has 136k miles drove it for 4.5 hours back home it is in great shape im so excited!

Just stock this thing is quick as **** ill for sure burn my friends cars and they have a lil bit of performance done

I will post pics as soon as my mom gets off work she has the camera, I cant wait to discuss mods with you guys ive been reading this site and been learning for a few monthes and i finally got one!!!!!!

Lol ya i kinda figured im bout to have so much fun, dont worry if im going to speed it will be on I-75 toward 6-7 mile (straight ghetto) people speed all the time there

Well, it's just that for this forum, their a bit testy on racing kind of stuff. Unless you do it on a track.

Oh i dont race but i will always get to 5 over speed limit as fast as i can though

we try to keep the street racing talk off the family oriented, public forum do save our own butts lol.post pics of the new car and what kind of cars to dour friends drive? my 99 celica was peppy at best, but not worth a lot of cars time

Oh well i already know i will get burned by and "street" car but as for stock it is fast
One friend has grand prix 99 with performance chip cold air intake and spark plugs + wires nothing spectacular
he also has a 5.0 with a new summit carb so that would be a decent match up dunno for sure

My other friend owns a plymouth "b" body with only a 318 thats automatic with new edelbrock carb also has shift kit

all of these cars are "fast" but also im used to driving a chrysler concorde so you guys can see where i think it is a fast car

as for racing i wont be doing any of that only because i need this car to get to work and school so i cant afford tickets either, im all about acceleration though

congrats on the new ride, you will soon realize tho yea they are "peppy" but not quick.....i got took by a 05 corrola 5 spd.... whomped by an econo box.....but il let you figure out whats fast on your own, welcome aboard

i mean it is only 135 hp but what is a econo box?

Econo box is a car like a Corolla, Civic, Fit, etc that's only meant to be driven as a commuter car for economic purposes, good gas mileage, etc, basically a car with very little power.

Our cars are pretty light, but not that powerful. 135hp isn't that much, and the GT's powerband is just awful. While it is "quick" and fun to drive, head to head with another car they just don't hold up.

If you do want best performance per-dollar without turbocharging I would get a header, and do a search on the Webcams 294 grind for our cams. Intakes are pretty much a waste of time, and exhaust gains are minimal without doing a lot more work. Welcome to 6gc, our cars may be slow but there's a reason I'm on my 4th one

Thank you, uhh as for power band what could i do to upgrade that and a lil more info on the 294 grind im learning alot about cars daily since i started being interested in tuners about 4-5 monthes ago and celica is definitely my favorite of the 90's tuners
