I just got pulled over again on the same street as before, but this time up north more where the speed limit is 35mph in a small section and 45mph on either side. I did 50 to get around a car after making a yellow light thinking the car was going at speed limit, instead it was actually going 25mph. So I look in my rear view and see a sheriff behind me. I pull over and he was like "What's up? You know what the speed limit is? " I said "45mph?" he was like "35 in that section, were you in a hurry?" and I was like "Kind of". He said that a CHP officer was watching me and had him pull me over. So he was going to let me go with a warning and I was like "For real?! OH thank you! No one has ever done that before." and then he asked if I had any warrants or anything, I know you shouldn't talk to police but he seemed real cool and I told him how I got a ticket on that street a few weeks before and that I got an extension to have it taken care of middle of this month and it is due on the 1st. He asked for my ID and then the CHP officer pulled up on the other side of the parking lot. He was like "Yeah that's the guy right there. LOL By the way, nice ride." and I was like "Man, thanks so much" and he let me go.

This never happened before, and yes I am dumb for making the same mistake twice and such, but this is my testimony, not all cops are bad.

Yeah, I've gotten the cool cop a few times. They really aren't all bad. They've let me off with a couple of warnings. I just recently got my first ticket.

you got pulled over at all.

thats bad within itself smile.gif

just because he didn't put you in jail doesn't make him a good guy... its like saying a particular slavemaster is a good guy because he doesn't whip you as hard...

He was breaking the law, speeding. The cop pulled him over, and that makes him a bad guy? Since when does doing your job make you a bad guy?

And your comparison does not relate at all.

OP, You got pulled over, he let you go...okay? I've got let go so many times but I fail to find the need to share with everyone every time I get pulled over.

I agree that a cop doing his job doesn't make him a bad guy, if anything a cop letting you off the hook for breaking the law should make him a bad guy.

but wow... no need to be so harsh on the OP. Maybe the cops on the east coast are a lot nicer than the ones in CA and its rare for him to get let off the hook, as opposed to us where its more rare to actually get a ticket.

I can't understand how people get pulled over so easily.... don't you guys look around?

but yeah, there are some pretty chill cops smile.gif
and even the cops that book you hard, can still be pretty cool at times.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel like seeing a post everytime someone gets, or doesnt get a ticket. But then again, I don't have to read them.

i find it funny how i can cruise with the flow of traffic doing about 80-90mph on highways around here where the limit is 55mph - go past all sorts of police, but yet, one gets pulled over for having fog lights (correctly aimed too) on when its not foggy out...

edit: but yes, i agree that most cops are pretty cool with stuff - you usually have to be doing something wrong for them to even bother with the hassle of pulling you over

If my job was government sponsored...

and it was to hunt down and kill you.

would I be a good guy?

yes I'm working from extremes to put things in perspective smile.gif

No harm no foul... but harm is no less harm because its government sponsored.

How would you feel if *I* pulled you over because I thought you were going too fast, and then because I'm such a "good guy" let you off with a "better not do it again". I would obviously be an asshole for even trying.

And thats the point. Badges and titles are irrelevant - we are people and thats it.

exactly...

Law enforcement is absurdly out of hand...

Cops are better suited for domestic disputes and changing tires... and giving directions.

When any man decides to put his ideals upon another man forcefully, problems arise. When a man discusses his problems with another man, solutions may be met.

Fines are not the solution... they only continue a vicious cycle which has created the situtation we are in (along with taxes). The solution is not fines, the solution is education. Inform people about traction limits, braking distances, slalom speeds etc etc... WHY they should drive a certain speed... in the end we all win through education... in the end we all lose through oppression and ignorance.

They teach you all that in driving school. People choose not to listen to the reasons not to speed, etc etc. I will not disagree, some cops are corrupt, take their title and use it ways in which they shouldn't, or are just simply assholes because they think they are better than everyone else. But to say that all cops are bad and are not there to protect you is completely and utterly absurd. I know plenty of cops who take their job very seriously and don't use their badge for unjustly reasons. There will be corrupt people in every job, every title, every position in this country.

What inclines them to be corrupt.

What can we do to lessen that inclination?

Too many times officers know other officers are doing inappropriate things, but who would tell on a brother? They get a sense of power and think their sh*t doesn't stink.

never mind about what I said, i just got pulled over today, haha

but never the less, the trooper was cool, didn't give me the max fine or anything, even offered to give me advice on how to handle the ticket in court.
I actually didn't mind being pulled over...it was weird.
