Not sure where you guys want to end up at. Right now it's set at Rudy's BBQ on 183 but that can be changed. The total route is about 80 miles and takes about 3 hrs.
Starting point is HEB Parking Lot at 12860 N. Highway 183, Austin TX 78750
For scenery I included the parking garage on 360 for photos and Mt. Bonnell towards the end.
Ending point is Rudy's BBQ at 11570 Research Blvd, Austin, TX 78759.
Some of these roads are single lane, elevation changing, TIGHT turns so STAY IN YOUR LANE.
This route is all within 30 minutes of Downtown Austin.
PLEASE no one get killed.......

Darth has the final map now for review and will let everyone know what time to meet up, etc.

I'm for trusting your judgement - pass out the maps biggrin.gif
Is Rudy's BBQ perhaps the place where the pictures of the original Texas Toyota Meet were taken [First post]? If so that place is fcukin awesome - I am so down for that again.

Guys, it doesn't look like i'm going to be able to make it this time -- i've had some family stuff come up. I may be able to stop by for hellos and pictures, but don't think i'll be able to make the cruise. Sorry. I'll keep y'all updated.

This is still pending a start time and def end destination- I would like to see a start around 10-11 a.m. It's going to be 95+ degrees.......

Here's a link to the working map. I'm hoping there is enough road to handle everyone....There's not alot of wide open driving like a 1431 or Hwy 71 str8 shot but these are very nice/tough roads.

It starts out with a couple of warm up roads about 10 miles worth before hitting Lime Creek (the warm up roads are Spicewood Springs and 2222-check you tube for videos).
Out of Lime Creek (You tube videos all over for Lime Creek-it's awesome), a rest stop, then down 620 over the dam - very scenic but some traffic. 620 to Hwy 71 then Southwest pkwy, to Westlake Drive (very tight tough road) over to 360 bridge parking lot for pics. From there Mt. Bonnell road for scenic view off 2222 then back up Mopac to Hwy 183 and then Rudys on 183 end. Not sure if you guys went to Rudy's before but it's popoular for other car shows and meets. The total route is about 3 hrs as it sits...keep in mind this is still PENDING

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source...271423292923766

You guys should really consider hitting the Three Sisters route next time but it's about 2hr+ Southwest of Austin. It's the best road by far for cruises. Here is the map for the Three Sisters....just fyi.

Alex, glad to hear you got a new car smile.gif

Here's all the info everyone:

Meeting Place: HEB Grocery Store Parking Lot 12860 N Highway 183 78750

Time: 11:30 a.m. Saturday June 13th

We will meet, visit, check out cars, take pics etc @ the HEB Parking Lot
There is a gas station near there as well so everyone can get gas that needs it.
Make sure you have plenty of gas for the cruise before we start off.
Bring your own food (sandwiches etc) or pick some up @ the grocery store or gas station etc.
Bring PLENTY of drinks - water, gatorade etc. It will be well over 90+ degrees
Bring Sunblock if you burn easily & Bring extra coolant, oil etc for your car.
We will eat lunch & hang out there in the parking lot.

We will roll out for the cruise around 12:45pm --- NO Later than 1p.m.
If you are running late, call Death - but we are not going to stand around & wait for you.

Here is a link to the Map of the Cruise Route w/directions:

http://www.imageartstudio.com/justjoe/imag...tincruise09.pdf

Print out a copy for yourself if you want.

It is approx. 3 hours worth of driving - if that is too much for you don't come - no one wants to hear you complain about your sore left leg & the heat.
Some roads are very tight, twisty and dangerous. Know the limits of your car and do not push yourself or the car too far.
We don't want any accidents or injuries.
Try to keep a safe following distance with the car in front of you.
Don't get too far behind, but don't stay too close in case of sudden braking.
Please remember -- These are public roads with other drivers using them.
If the car in front of you is going too slow, pass when it is safe - click on your brights or something to let them know you are going to pass.
DO NOT PASS TOO MANY CARS AT ONE TIME! It's dangerous & disrespectful - end of story.
We will do our best to make sure no one gets left behind on the cruise.
We will go through an area with stop lights - so we will pull off & wait for anyone who gets left behind @ a red light.

There is a stop at the 360 bridge parking garage for pics, stretch & car cool-down time.
We may have another stop @ Mt. Bonnell which has the best scenery in the city.

The final stop is Rudy's BBQ 11570 Research Blvd 78759
We can eat an early dinner there hang out etc. then everyone can do whatever they want - go home, continue hanging out @ a local meet or whatever.

Those who are staying on Sunday are free to explore any roads they wish - there is no set schedule.

BIG BIG THANKS TO MIXMASTER for helping to come up with this fun & varied route for us to enjoy this year!

I'm going to be busy all week going to the dentist Monday, extra work Tues & Wed, rest of the week working out kinks on Vadar & getting him ready to drive down.
I'll do my best to check in here as often as I can.
If you have any questions or concerns, PM myself or Mixmaster.

If you don't like the route, times or whatever you are free to skip out on coming this year & you can plan next year's event.
Sorry to be a harda$$, b!tch or whatever but a lot of time & effort went into planning all of this practically last minute & I'm really just not in the mood to hear someone who had no initiative moan & complain about this that or the other.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this Saturday!

Do it

Ripley/Mixmaster - you guys deserve so much thanks for this. You guys are awesome and I'm glad to be driving with you.

X2 on the stay far behind in case of hard braking - remember that some of us can stop waaaaay faster than you can and follow accordingly. My last 6GC was rearended and totalled so I promise all of you that if you follow too close and rear end this one out in the woods of rural Austin - they won't find your body till after the vultures do. Count on it - not joking.

Thanks Death - that means a lot smile.gif

Yes, some of us have completely upgraded brakes - for example we have ST205 4 piston calipers up front & ST205 2 piston calipers in the rear w/SS Lines all around + Motul Fluid so we can stop much faster than someone w/old stock brakes/pads + old fluid.
Also some of us have much grippier tires like we have Falken Azenis on Vadar.

Everyone be sure & give your cars a good once over before leaving - check all your fluids & tire pressures.

Also, make sure your cooler/ice chest is tied down/secured in your car before we roll out for the cruise --- It's no fun having ice go everywhere when there's a sudden stop ahead of you on the crest of a hill (Speaking from experience here)

Faster cars & faster drivers will be up front to help avoid any potential probs.

What Death said goes double if anyone gets too close to our Alltrac Vadar ... ya'll have no idea how much time, effort & money we've put into that car.

I'm pitching in for Keri and Mixmaster's lunch for all the hardwork they've done. smile.gif

I'm stoked. I'm gonna be sure to prepare well for this one.

IMO, I think a two-way radio + passenger + music turned down low would help the caravan out if someone were to get caught at a light or something rather than mad dialing cell phones, honking, and flashing lights. But I don't think everyone has a 2-way including myself. Will there be a system that we'll work out for such moments?

BTW, i'll be bringing my D60 + tripod with me smile.gif

Lol. I've no need for a boost controller in general unless I decide to boost the new car granted the thought of that's kinda boiling in the back of my mind.....

well everyone, Vadar just doesn't want to come down to Austin.
we've been working on him all week & we've got some serious problems with him now.
i'm unsure if the engine is totally gone or not yet - gonna look at it tommorrow nite - just am too tired to fool with it right now.
i'm disappointed we can't come down in Vadar this time, but he can barely even idle much less make the trip.
what makes it so bad is this prob came out of nowhere so we have to backtrack all our steps, everything that was touched to attempt to find the problem.
i have a sneaking suspicion the headgasket may have blown, but we'll fool with him later

SO >>> we're still coming, we'll just be in R2.
we got on the FRP front hood & rear trunk lid, so he lost a few pounds since last time around. biggrin.gif
he's still primer grey + peeling black maaco paint & not the prettiest to look at, but he ain't exactly the slowest either. wink.gif

P.S. A teal MKII MR2 turbo is also coming down from DFW smile.gif
seems we'll have a real mixture of toyotas this time around.
