So ive done searching around and looked on a couple of older topics about the rear disc swap but from really couldnt get the information i needed. Now i know you need rear backing plates, rear brake calipers, rear rotors, and rear pads, but do you get these fora 6 generation gt model celica. Ive also read that you need the parking brake cable or assembly, has anyone just went to there local toyota dealership picked up the parts and installed, i know getting from the dealer is going to be on the expensive side but what do you think i should do. Any information would gladly be helpful.

hmm im looking into doing this as well. your best bet is if u have any luck finding a gt 6gc from a junkayrd and getting the whole assembly.

you can get all the parts off a 6th gen celica GT or 5th gen celica GTS

my rear discs are from a 5th gen celica GTS...works just fine. rear calipers, rear backing plates, all the internal ebrake stuff, brake lines, pads (6th gen or 5th gen...doesnt matter)... only thing is that u need 6th gen GT rotors. saw somewhere that the alltrac stuff works...but it doesnt i tried lol. and yah u need the e brake cables only, not the entire assembly.

edit: dont go to the dealership they are WAY too expensive believe me. just find a 6th gen GT or 5th gen GTS at a junkyard or look for some1 parting out here or on celicatech.

As for "6th gen rotors" you can easily get rotors from any parts store, just ask for rear rotors for a GT is all. Same for pads.

A junk yard is definitely going to be your best bet. There's an auto wrecking place here in Portland that will ship as well, and IIRC the 2 or 3 6GCs they have might both be GTs. Rose Auto Wrecking

Also try MazToy Auto Recycling 503-667-6818 they might also ship but if they don't I can help you out.

You can also search "rear brake assembly" or something to that affect at http://www.car-parts.com

So from what i understood.

5th Gen Celica GT-S Rear Brake Assembly will work just fine. need brake lines, calipers, and backing plate. Also i have to make sure to get 6th gen gt rear rotors and pads. Do 5th Gen GT-S Celica's have ABS on rear brakes. And if i get rear brakes from a 6th gen Celica do i have to look for ABS Sensors??

Oh and also GriffGirl. about the proportional valve. description in the chilton book i have. Proportional Valve: used to reduce the hydraulic pressure to the rear brakes becuase of weight transwer during high speed stops. this helps keep the rear brakes from locking up by improving front to rear brake balance.

What did you end up doing Griff Girl buying the proportional valve or leave as is? and you weren't kidding about the price $200 like u said before.

Edit: So i went to local junk yard called Pick a part. and i found a 5th gen gt-s that had about 226,000 miles on. thinking about it. it it worth getting them. i mean thats alot of miles on the car. the car was not crashed at all. and it had no engine. should i get them or look at the other junkyard to see if they have any other celica's

good question about the ABS...i dunnoh lol mine doesnt have ABS

i say just get it. if u want new calipers u can always buy reman ones from any parts store. whats hard to get is the backing plate and all the misc stuff for the internal ebrake. u can also pick up ss brake lines if u want too.

Yeah also I think you have to get non ABS model disk

Don't worry about the ABS, since a 94 ST isn't equipped w/ABS anyway, it's a non issue. You don't need the ABS sensors off the donor car.

I didn't do anything about the p-valve. I kinda figure if I ever come across one some day, I'll snag it and swap them out, otherwise my brakes work just fine with the current p-valve and it's not a top priority.

Don't do something weird like use the rotors off the donor car. Just order new rotors and pads from NAPA or whatever auto parts supply store you like. I've got NAPA premium rotors on mine and I'm very happy with them. I've got ceramic pads, which I'm happy with in terms of durability and total lack of brake dust, but they're not as grabby as semi-metallic pads. That works fine for me though, since I rarely have the need to stop so short where the semi-metallics would make a difference. If I need to stop that short, odds are I'm gonna hit whatever is in front of me anyway.

do you really need the 5th/6th gen brakes lines? whats wrong with the 6th gen st brake lines?????

you dont need the brake lines you need the e-brake cable the brake lines are the same or at least mine were

Yeah, brake lines are the same, it's the e-brake cables you need off the GT.

Dang i cant put the rotors on they wont clear the e brake shoes. Can anyone help??=*( I push the e- brake cable all the way back put it doesnt make them small the adjustment is all the way down. Im puttn in new rotors and e-brake shoes if anyone can help with my problem i'd greatly appreciate it

BTW im using the 5th gen e brake cable dnt know if that matters i understood it doesn't im not sure though

You need the e-brake cable off of the 6'th gen GT. You can't use the one from the 5'th gen celicas.

ah s8*t really ok well who has em and how much?? Also on the 5th gen calipers how come the 6th gen st brake lines fit but dont seal do i need to get new or custom made brake lines too? Well we customed some things to make the 6 gen rotors fit and now we might have to get custom brake lines wow this is a huge swap for me lol I didnt think this would be this hard you guys all made it sound really easy made because i have 5th gen back plate, calipers and e-brake cables I'll c if the 5th gen brake cables work I hop[e they do.
