guess you dont like the celica enough to do a swap then. 3sge would be direct swap into your celica. i guess with 5 k you could buy a turboed mr2. but mostly ff cars for around that price tag. i guess for 8k you can by a rear wheel drive car.

and thats just it. the celica is such a rare car that nobody has. thats why i think doing a beams swap or 3sgte swap is totally worth it. all you see on the street are hondas...

i would safely say $4,500 if you want to just swap in and out no added goodies.

1600$+ for the engine, 600-800 in shipping (unless you find locally) looking at 1500 in labour/parts then actualy getting it to run properly.

But i advise avoiding those back alley shops that promise they will do it for half the other guy

Oh you guys are figuring labor into the cost? I can afford it if it's just parts + motor + shipping. I guess I just assumed the OP would be doing the swap at home. I can afford to do it then (since the BEAMS is what I'm aiming to get whenever the 5sfe dies). For 8k you could pick up a used WRX, a very used S2000, good condition Miata or an older one and turbocharge it, older Vette, vtec Prelude if you're want to look like every other Honda guy lol. Or for 8k go buy a brand new Yamaha r6...which is tempting lol

Don't get me wrong, I love the Celica and definitely appreciate how rare they are, but there's a limit to what I'll dump into it, because even with a $3k motor, it's still a sub 200hp FF driveline with a strut suspension and poor weight distribution. I didn't even pay $3k for my 99 GT.

No more than $3k as long as the internals are still in good condition (Pistons, rods, cams, etc)

$2k for motor + tranny set along with a few extras
$1k for replacing stuff (water pump, belts, gaskets, spark plugs, - ur usual stuff ) if that much

+ Do it urself labor = $0

Thats what I expect my cost to be.

i agree doing it your self is always the best option. just take some classes on auto and have a friend help you do it. and then he'll maybe charge you around $500 to do it. Im so tempted to buy an engine clip of rpm garage. they have 2 front clips beams celica with 36-39k miles on them for $3250 overall price for shipping and everything. i would of bought the clip except i found out about the potential of the celica after i bought a brand new gsxr 750 10 months ago.

for us st guys. if we swap out a 3sge beams in the celica would we need larger fuel rails? stock ones off the ss-III celica would be just fine right?

lol i like how u just decided that 8k is the final and only answer......8k will give you one of the baddest 2w drive celica that will out perform most the (CARS) u listed besides maybe the wrx and the vette, most definetly the sorry vtec....and 200hp? what....man you can get that with your 5s....the 3sgte stock can pop out a good 350whp tuned......these cars come out on top in x-races.......buy a gt4 for 7-8k (maybe less) spend 8-10k under the hood (15-18k total) and you can wave good buy to the evo costing 27-40k.....there is a video floatin around here sumwere a 600whp gt4 vs a 1000+hp supra.......guess who wins..........the gt4 two runs, left it both times...thats one bad car..lol.....but with 4k u can do a swap and still be glad your driving the celica other then a miata or a prelude

WOW What the hell?!! that is so cheap for beams engine clip. that engine clip has been on rpm garage for the past 2 months.

if somebody doesnt buy it in 2 months I just might have to consider getting a loan from the bank buying the clip and letting it sit in my backyard for 2 years until i get enough money to do the complete swap with goodies and everything. that price is ridiculously cheap $2800 shipped with taxes to san diego ports. That shows just how much the engines are worth, almost nothing.

Seen the video, Supra driver can't drive. Not to mention the power to weight ratio is about the same since the Supra is heavier to begin with, and the Celica gets an AWD launch.

I'd like to see where I can get a street legal GT4 into the United States for 7-8k, after taxes, tariffs, etc. If all it took was 7-8k I would have bought one long ago.

PS nothing wrong with Miatas or Preludes, I've owned both, can vouch that either would outperform the Celica on any track (stock vs stock) and would gladly own either again.

Preludes are a thing of the past IMO. Celica is the same, but it looks so much better and with an added Beams - you'll love the celica all over again.

where I am you can easly pick up a BEAMS for $1,500US, Blitz supercharged 3SGE cost about $3000

QUOTE
the 3sgte stock can pop out a good 350whp tuned

could you explain this for me?

IMO the BEAMS 3SGE is only good standard (plus intake and exhaust) the 3rdgen 3SGE is better for doing up
