for all you 3s guys, when you do an oil change, how long does it usualy take to burn a quart of oil through your motor? i put my first 4 1/2 quarts in when i did the swap, noticed it was a little low, and put the other 1/2 quart in to top it off....that was about a month ago, i looked today, and its about 1/4 full on the dip stick, right above the L...i know they burn oil, and i know i drive my car a little hard, but i was wondering if this is normal for the 3s motor

thanks guys

I put 1/4 of a liters every 3000 miles (between 2 oil changes, I use 5w40 in gen3 3sgte) , this is normal turbo seal consumption

a little more than this is not a big problem, probably your ct26/ct20b seal

Didn't you do a rebuild before you swapped the engine? Also did you rebuild the Turbo? Do you have an oil catch can with a level gauge on it?

we redid all the seals on the engine.
first thing to check is to make sure none of those seals are leaking for some odd reason. next, because of the large amount of shaft play on your turbo, its probably burning oil from the turbo seal.

yea im pretty sure its my turbo..because the whole under side of the car is covered in carbon, and even in the bay a little bit...due to the open DP. makes sense, thanks guys.

hmmm.. a bad turbo would cause blue smoke, not black smoke . Black is fuel(running rich) , blue is oil(turbo seal)
