jim, next time you go to the dyno, have the guy start the runs a bit earlier.
have him shift to 3rd so that the run starts ~2k rpm.
you'll spool faster, and prolly make more power too.

cant wait to see the diffrence the cam gear tuning makes!

im not trying to rip and i missed it somewhere in the the thread, but why do your numbers seem so low for that boost level? im sure its turbo related. in a 7th gen celica im making 350 HP on 15 psi with a GT30R and im making about 375 at 15 psi on my GT35R

gt30 compared to a stock ct20b...very big differents!..15psi on a gt30 is like 25 or more on a ct20b..plus 335 on a stock car..is very good.. biggrin.gif

i agree...you gotta do a lot of tuning to get a stock up that high past the 300 number for a used engine...very well done for a stock turbo...now take good care of her and she'll last a while. biggrin.gif

Well no Chacha, it is 100% stock with 0 tuning. Anyone who swaps in a GEN# with intake, exhaust, FCD, and WI will see 320+whp above 19psi. I dont want to take credit away from how AMAZING that is, or lie and say otherwise.....because that is a beautiful thing. This setup is 100% stock GEN3 with the above listed mods. GEN3 FTW.

damn man nice numbers
some questions tho
a stock 3rd gen makes 250bhp, what psi is that at?
what is FCD?
and is a FMIC not necessary if you have WI?

I dont know for sure, but I want to say the stock GEN3 came with 12psi. A FCD = Fuel Cut Defender. When the factory ECU sees 18+ psi, it shuts the car down. With an Active Clamp FCD (which it MUST be an active clamp stlye FCD for GEN3's), you can clamp the voltage for 17-18psi, so the Ecu never sees More pressure than 17-18psi, even tho you are running more......Like in my case, 21psi. You can get away with this on a GEN3 because at 17psi, the stock injectors go 100% duty and dump all the fuel it has....about 340-350whp worth of it wink.gif.

You do not ever NEED to go FMIC, in fact.....I wont be. The biggest problem with the stock setup above 300whp is the pump. The stock pump flows about 7gpm, I bought an upgraded pump that flows 20gpm that I still need to put in. The upgraded pump puts the coolant into a turbulent state, which the stock pump just can not do. When liquid under goes turbulent flow it is at its highest ability to transfer heat. Next step will be to upgrade the Heat exchanger to a bigger unit. You can go WELL above 400whp efficiently with an upgraded pump like I have, a Larger heat exchanger, and the stock TMIC.

Thanks for the compliments Ian.

LOLOLOL, I cant wait for the new update either Ian, STILL waiting on a few parts.....as seems to have been the story for the past few months now. Well all in due time I suppose.

I never got around to posting my 24psi dyno run, as I never got the chance to upload it:

As the graph shows, even with the addition of my helper spring, I still wasn't able to hold 24.6psi to redline (fell to 21psi by 6000rpms). I Could tighten the spring, and this would allow me to hold any boost pressure that I desire, but a side affect is it also raises your "lowest" boost setting. If I had the time, I would have liked to tighten the helper spring and try a "high boost" run, but my soul purpose was to get the FCD dialed in, and set the boost to the pressure that I wanted to run on the street.....and there is only so much you can do in an hour LOL.

The run ended early here (about 6000rpms) due to boost cut, as this was the first pull I did above the factory 18psi Boost cut, and my FCD still needed to be dialed in. I just thought I would throw this up to show the advantages of water injection (WI). As you can see, even running just washer fluid on pump gas allowed me to take the stock GEN3 setup above 24psi with no signs on Knock. Which is the main reason I feel safe running 21psi daily.

There was still a lot left in this setup, as my cam gears were installed straight up at the time, and my AFRS were still in the mid 10's even at 340+whp. The GEN3 is an amazing platform to start with as it accepts mods like no other.

My car has gone through another massive transformation, but I will touch more on that when its all completed.

Nice numbers! So, without WI, at what PSI would you feel safe to run on street and pump gas? What kind of HP without WI and at what PSI would it be?

Could you send me some pics of your detonations cans? I want to build some but I don't know where to tap the hose end? On the block? On the head? Plz, gimme some info on this! PM me so there will not be any hijack on this thread!

Again : WOW!

Sam
