Sean is on vacation last time we talked. I'm back, but I've been tinkering. For some reason the last coat of epoxy I put on the parts is NOT setting, and I can't understand why because I mixed it just like before. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to salvage the already done work, otherwise it's strip everything and start from scratch again. -------------------- |

maybe some heat. Let it set in the sun, helps with paint.

Ok, back on this. While I'm trying to strip Ricky's headlamp cover of the stuff that won't set, I decided to try something. Took a typical tall kitchen back and used it for vacuum bagging. The thinner bag should conform better and it's got a lot of stretch capability.
DAYUM. I hit a home run with that idea. Right now I'm curing a drivers door switch panel and a drivers upper dash vent piece, both of which I wrapped during hte last two days. VERY VERY pleased with how they're looking: This was hand wrapped, and I'm on the fence as to if I'm going to use it or not: NONE of these are finished yet. I hvae edges to trim and finish up and there's only one layup coat of epoxy on there right now, hence the rough spots. Pay close attention to the switch recesses on the door switch panel though......see how straight the weave remained as opposed to my hand layed piece? Vacuum bagging is the ish. have you tried a hood or anything big? Nope, and I don't plan to. I have zero interest into getting involved with something on that scale. -------------------- |

There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. Lookin reeeeeaaaaal nice Fastbird. Can't even tell you're new at this. thanks man. I started sanding the drivers door switch last night and am VERY happy with how it's coming out. There's room for improvement but this piece is going to be a winner once I clearcoat it. Just have to get all the rest of hte pieces done in the same fashion now. Best move I ever made movign to a more pliable bagging material. -------------------- |

Sanded epoxy and a fresh shot of clear coat. It's got some texture there because I JUST shot the clear. It should level out quite nicely and only need a minor 2000-3000 grit hit and polish to finish it off.

Out of curiosity, are you still taking in 6gc member parts to wrap? I want to get some stuff on my bike wrapped (Ram air ducts, rear sets, mirrors, gauge bezel, bar sliders, frame sliders, chain protector).
I figure I'll either send them to you, or try and figure out how to do it myself (though I don't have a vaccuum packing machine, and would have to do a lot of trial and error). The parts should be fairly simple, the rear sets will probably be the hardest of all. Obviously, time and parts would be compensated. -TC -------------------- Live your life for yourself. It's actually VERY easy to do a vacuum bagging setup. You only need an old refrigerator compressor to use as the pump ($50-75 for a good one, I Paid $80 for a new one), some tubing, some tacky tape, and some trash bags. YOu could go professional and use release film and filler, but I found I like it better with the bag only. Gets a tighter pull. Email or pm me some pics of what you want done and we can talk. I'm getting a LOT of requests right now and don't want to take on more than I can handle. -------------------- |

Anyone associated with this thread might as well give up, I sent Sean about $200.00 in 86 ALL-TRAC Parts [Hard to come by as it is]..One in particular was very rare and one of a kind that i hand made.Took me months to get perfect.I sent him these parts last January.Yes its been a FULL year, I've had my deals go bad as well but I've always cleaned them up...Sooner or later.Anyways, Just an fyi..I don't think Sean is coming back around here any longer.
