Oh no way - that was my first time attempting fireworks so I don't think they're very good. And 30 shots? I took 142. I started out with the 70-200 on but then switched to the 17-40. I'm still pretty horrible at HDR...but nonetheless: my fav of the set. as for the fireworks, i wasn't close enough, nor did i have time to switch lenses if i wanted to. the show here only lasted about 10 minutes, pretty weak. oh, and yeah, erik, i knew that, forgot momentarily You guys did pretty good on the firework pictures imo. I took about 50 shots last year and only a few of them were good when I looked at them later, most of the rest came out OOF. thanks! you're only seeing one out of my 5 keepers, i feel ya man. I got about 40 shots, our show kinda sucked and 5-10 second exposures eat up a lot of time
I don't have a remote release so I was using 2 second timer for everything....enough excuses lol this is my favorite I think. I was wanting to put some fill just on the flag, but when it comes to editing I have a long way to go. Randy that's awesome!
Selling my Canon 50mm f/1.8 mk1 if anybody wants it, go here Replaced it with this: it's the 45mm version, rotated so that the tilt and shift are on the same axis (done myself instead of getting ripped off $100 for 5 minutes of work (undoing 4 screws, carefully rotating, then replacing 4 screws). Test shots, which made me pull the trigger on it. 1. 2. This post has been edited by stetsonaw: Jul 6, 2009 - 9:13 AM -------------------- ~Andy

Randy that's a good looking shot.
Luke - yeah I use Photomatix, I also do them in CS4 but find that Photomatix does a better job. I very much dislike the over-saturated, cartoony look, so I try to keep it as non-HDR looking as possible. I try to use it only as a tool to show what the scene looks like to a human eye. Tilt shift is cool - changes things' perspectives. Couple more I didn't post: This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Jul 5, 2009 - 10:06 AM -------------------- |

Thanks Guys
A few more all very similar with different stages of crappy editing.lol I wanted to bump up the forground to get some depth seperation between the monument and the fire works, there were lots of people wandering around with little glowstick braclets and necklaces, there are a lot of ghostly images present. The two girls in the last stayed somewhat still for the booty shot. This post has been edited by 97lestyousay: Jul 5, 2009 - 1:35 PM -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.

I see no booty.
So I have been TRYING to learn more photoshop techniques, and this months Outdoor Photographer had a tidbit on the Blend If tool. So here's a comparison of 3 similar pics using 3 different methods: Blend If: HDR using Photomatix: 1 photo with some dodging & burning: -------------------- |

I like them all though it is hard to make a comparison with 3 different shots.
I absolutly love the transition from the clear water with rocks on the bottom to reflection on the hdr. full crop booty lol -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.

None of these are exactly stellar, as this was my first time attempting these shots too. I also used a 2 second exposure, f 8. And my lap. I like the spirals from the shells twisting up into the sky, I think that's kinda cool and was totally unexpected.

Nice site Erik, I would have liked to see more of the shots of the sunken railroad.
I am sure you will get more stuff soon. I have been debating on starting something for selling. For about $100.00 a year you can set up a zenfolio account and sell. I know a guy shooting local events, sports and motorsports, handing out buisiness cards, selling online, and doing very well. It is pretty simple they way it works, the customer goes to his site, looks at a small non-downloadable folder, and can pay to unlock the folder to download. There is another option to have it printed and direct shipped if you want. -------------------- JDM guy made me do it.
