I was going home after work. On the way home, I drove faster than other days and try to quick shift like i am in a race. Suddenly, I felt my engine get heavier, like I towing something. I know right away something wrong with the motor, but there was no check engine light on. I was so worry. I got home and quickly open the hood to look at the engine, I didn't see anything felt apart. then I check my back pressure, I felt the gas came out the exhaust little weak. I knew I was losing compression. I thought right away that I have blown head gasket. I shut off the car and started it on again, it turned on ok, then I recheck the engine and the combination meter for check engine light, but it was normal. I eliminate the blown head gasket out of my head. and keep search for more clue. I know something wrong with compression, Then out of no where I saw something not right, ohhh, I found it, the distributor wire connector. One of them felt off. I took a closer look. there were only 2 safety retainer on four of them.
![]() ![]() I think the previous owner went to the bad mechanic shop. (off topic) how do I know this, because they changed the valve cover gasket and never tighten the bolts. and they lost 2 of the retainer for the distributor wire connectors. I found out after I saw oil leak and I have to tighten the bolts down, now this happen.. anyway, thank God , nothing really happen to my lovely 6GC. it scares the crab out of me. |
