Does anybody know how to get to the rear quarter panel window motors. I just got a 97 GT Convertible and the rear windows don't work. The switches are good, so it is either the wiring or the motors. I have taken apart the back quarters and looked behind the speakers and the seat belt tensioners, but haven't found the window motors. Also wondering if anyone knows where to get the weatherstripping which goes between the rear glass and the door glass.
Thanks |

Thanks for the reply. That is a great link. Do you have any good sources for parts?

njccmd2002 has most things right in that procedure. However:
You don't need anything special to unscrew the large washer-nuts holding the glass to the plate. Channellocks work just fine. The rubber seal between rear glass and door glass is not sold separately. It's part of the rear glass and glued permanently. |

Got the same issue with my driver side quarter.... How did you determine that the motor was bad/good? Mine seems to be too far forward causing the front door glass to bow out slightly at the top. I don't hear anything when I press the driver side switch. The passenger goes up and down just fine.
I need to figure out how to either get the glass permanently down, or at least be able to push it up or down manually for now. I am not going to pay $450 for a motor from Toyota, plus whatever labor to put it in. Let us know what you decide to do..... |

I figured out it was the motor when I downloaded the electrical scheme. I had power to the front panel switch, I tested the switch and it gave 12v from Pin 1 to 3 and then pin 2 to 3 when I pressed the up and down and when I put the 12 volts to the motor circuit it didn't work. I haven't gotten the motor out yet, but once I get to the motor I will see if 12 volts is getting there, if it is then my motor is toast.

I cleaned the switch when my quarter window stopped and the quarter works perfect again. The way to clean it is in the how to's somewhere. |

Thanks for the help. I used the how to to clean the switch and still no go. I have ordered a new motor from 1sttoyotaparts, but it was $$$$. I'll post once I get this fixed. Hopefully get the parts this week.

before ordering the motor you should have tested the old one, did you test the relay, cant remember where it is located.
