Hi,

Any ideas where i would find any information on changing a steering rack on an ST202?

I tried to get a quote from a garage I normally use but they said they cant touch it because they might set the air bags off!!!

Its actually a beams SS3 but i figure it will be the same as most other gen 6's

Thanks

Christian

I'm curious about the same part, that might be one of the culprits of the mysterious random braking clunk sound I've been getting lately.

i've been thinking of replacing my steering rack, but for other reasons. anyways, i'll have the car up on a lift next week when i put my skid plate back on and i'll take a look to see what all would need to be done. as far as the airbags, changing the steering rack wouldn't make them go off, and even if you're worried about it you can just pull out the SRS fuse in the engine bay.

well, i'm trying to see if any other toyotas have steering racks that are interchangeable with the 6gen, preferably a tacoma. the reason for this is that i'm looking to find a steering rack and tie rod ends that are beefier for taking a beating in rallyx and possibly stage rally.
