Been having a crazy idea, bout getting one, and restore, not to original but to my taste. However been googling around and celicatech has no info that is worthy, a lot of lame forums if i keep googling.

Anybody here that can guide me. I dont have the car yet, but want to find out about completed engine swaps. LOL

RWD, means 3sge altezza 6 speed. or similar. anyone with ideas?

It's a good car, you just need patience with it. Information and parts for it are not easy to come by at all. 1stgencelica is your best bet though for any kind of help. Engine swaps are fairly common with the first gen Celicas. 7mge/gte, 1jz, 2jz, f20, sr20, 1uzfe are all nice choices. Personally, I'm sticking with my 20r motor and putting together a dual side draft system for it. That along with a header should open the engine up real nice. Then I would use an AE86 LSD rear end and a custom coilover set up and it will be legit smile.gif. If you do get one, make sure to find one with a clean straight body, and good interior.

Haha hey man, I have some peeling clear coat and some dirt on the car haha. I'm going to be doing the body work soon on it. I'm not fond of the side molding and the car didn't come with side mirrors, so there are holes in my doors where they should be. I'm going to fill that all up in the next few weeks (to keep my car rust free wink.gif ), and I'll probably shave the antenna too.

Find me some banana tail lights! laugh.gif

For the front suspension, AE86 parts work. I'm going to be doing the shortened AE86 front casings/spindles, with the AW11 AGX rear inserts, and ground control coilovers at 8kg. For the rear I would probably go with the Camaro struts with swift springs @ 6kg (since I would be using the 86 rear end as well). But then again, I have the RA28, so there's going to be some playing around with it. There's not a lot of suspension coverage for the RA28/29, mainly the earlier models.

Hmm the 22re and 3tc are nice motors, but I'm an 18rg fanboy laugh.gif . I drove a corolla with the 3tc in it at work the other day, and the engine ran so perfectly and the response was immediate. The owner kept really good care of that car. So you're running the weber 32/36 huh? I thought about running that one, but I'm buying the 20r sidedraft manifold from a member on 1stgen, so my plans changed a bit. How was it working out for you? I'm looking at the weber DCOE 45 right now, and will probably order from Redline too.

If you can READ it says I'm from your mom under my name.......

No, I'm in the great PNW. Where else are you obligated to drive a Subaru?

If you were to cut this one up I'd pretty much kill you. It's mint.

I love the look of these. They're like muscle cars, but it's a Toyota...much better.

Not an intercooler - its an external oil cooler.

Makes sense, I was wondering why it was done like that. I'm guessing this is a drag setup?

No no I wouldn't say it's a drag set up. It's quite common for older Japanese cars to mount the oil cooler on the outside like that. Most drag Celicas tub the rear so they can fit really wide wheels in the rear like Carey's Jz powered Celica, (thing is a beast)

I didn't mean the oil cooler, I meant the whole car. The rears look pretty wide.

Sorry if I worded it weird. What I was trying to say is that it's common that old Japanese cars set up the oil cooler like that and as an additional note, that drag cars are usually set up with tubbed rear ends. The rear on the Celica that spolski posted is wide because of the flares and the crazy amount of stretch he has going on with those tires. And due to the stretch, I wouldn't say it's a drag car because it wouldn't be very beneficial for him to run such narrow tires because he would not get much traction. I didn't really want to go in depth and post a lot because I felt like I was thread jacking, but I guess when I make short posts, then things don't really make much sense huh? haha laugh.gif .
