My dad said he'd cosign, and I could make the payments on a newer more reliable car. Since I've been having so much celica trouble lately, and one kicking the bucket Friday. I don't think he will go for helping out with replacing engine and tranny on the 96 auto.

First car that came to mind is a newer corolla. Maybe a tc. New civic is a lil bit cheaper but Im not a Honda fan.
Anyway, it's down to a corolla s 5 speed, base model tc, cobalt lt coupe, civic is last choice.

Anyone here own either of them?

Never owned a corolla, but I've seen what they can do with some mods and their pretty nice.

I can say if I had 22k laying around, I probably would have gotten a 2010 XRS at a local dealership I saw. I really like the 9th and 10th gens.

What are you mostly looking to do with the car? mod it, dd it with limited/no mods, build it up for good power...?

Unless you go with the SS version, Cobalt should indeed be last choice.

I'm guessing you just want a reliable DD? Honestly, I'm sure they're nice, but I see no reason to get a Corolla and mod it...much, I guess. But I've heard very good things about them as DD's.

Corolla's MPG is off the chain! My mom has one and it is really good on gas. I haven't been in a Prius, but nothing I have seen or been in beats the Corolla on MPG that I know of.

I love the TC too though, looks wise. I don't care what anybody says or if it is considered a chick car, that car is damn sexy with potential.

Someone I know has a new Corolla S.
its a real nice car, and maybe its me not use to driving an auto, but i've driven it a good bit and it feels so slow.

might just be switching to an auto tho...although my parents Lexus RX seems rather quick.

i read this and realized i might come off retarded. I use the same pedal pressure in each car, and it seems that the corolla needs a bit more pressing to get into the higher RPMs, which is the only way it appeared to have umph.

GL on ur purchase.

well, the 96 GT auto had broken a cv axle 2 weeks ago. so i couldnt drive that till i got a paycheck. and Friday the 94 GT 5 spd was hit while my gf was driving it. so.... didnt get to the dealer about the corolla. instead i spent the day doing the cv axle, tranny filter, oil change, coolant flush. and started head gasket but the alternator cable connector broke. so i just put everything back together and its running now. i should be checking out the corolla sometime this week.

nothing but problems in Oklahoma....anyway, its between a 2009 corolla S, or a Scion tC.

Erich

I'd go with the tC again if I had this choice - just much more Celica-like feel. Slow tho [But so is the rolla]

test drove an 06 5spd tC. i didnt think it was as slow as you say. faster than what i've got right now. i wanted to test drive a corolla S in manual, but they only had an automatic corolla S. i like the drive of the tC much better. and the features that come standard in the tC is awesome. Reclining back seat, a/c, cruise, huge glass roof. i like it.

tC is definitely nicely optioned, I think the new ones have a 10" sub built in. But like I've said, they're just too common. I see at least 3 every time I drive.

Having said that, shopping for tC rims is officially doable now.

So do I. biggrin.gif

Jokes aside, of tC rims? I'd rather buy local though, and with tires.
