Hey guys,
So I have a 95 Celica ST. It still has its stock engine, has about 200k MILES on it and is still pulling strong. But its not a powerful engine. I was thinking of dropping a 4A-GE Blacktop engine with 5 speed tranny (currently it has auto tranny) I live around Toronto, Canada. Heres what I found: http://www.torontojdm.com/lite/cart.php?ta...category_id=117 is that ALL i need for this swap? what else do I need? How easy is it to do this? and if a mechanic was to do this swap what do you guys think would be a fair price? Let me know wanna get this done ASAP. oo and is that a good price for it? They also have a silver top for like couple hundred bucks less, shall I go for that? or just spend 200 bucks more on this black top? Thanks, Salman This post has been edited by smartsalman: Sep 12, 2009 - 2:08 AM |

Search the site for blacktop info. This has been covered before.
No, that is not everything you need. The motor is missing the coil and ignitor, plus you don't have any of the parts for a 5sp swap. You'll also need the throttle cable from a Paseo. Then you'll need to get a full engine gasket set. They're about $300. Then you'll want to probably buy the TRD metal head gasket, which is a bit over $100. You'll need a timing belt, a new clutch, new flywheel, or have the stock one resurfaced. The harness conversion will most likely need to be done by dr_tweak because your average mechanic won't have a wiring diagram for a motor that was never released in North America. I believe that costs $400. Any other accessory belts should be replaced. Now, if you pulled your motor on your own, and got all of the parts for the 5sp conversion and got those in, you can send off the harnesses to be spliced and you can replaced the gaskets, belts, and clutch while you're waiting for it to return and while the 20V is out of the car. Once the harness comes back it is all plug and play. It will drop into the ST motor mounts and the harness will plug right in. The only problem will be the lack of the coil and ignitor, but you can search club4ag for those.
