MY 95 GT'S AUTOMATIC TRANNY WONT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR WHEN IT RAINS AND GETS WET. I CAN SHIFT MANUALLY TO 2ND, BUT IT NEVER SHIFTS INTO 3RD. THEN AFTER A FEW DAYS OF DRYING OUT, IT SHIFTS FINE. IS THERE A SENSOR OR SOMETHING THAT MOISTURE AFFECTS? WHERE IS THE TROUBLE AND HOW DO I FIX IT?

Your two speed sensors are on your transmission, so maybe those. Did you try to pull any codes?

Wow...caps. Um, I guess it depends on what is wrong with it. So it only happens when it gets wet? If there are any stored codes there is a way you can pull them without having to take it to somewhere.

YOU SHOULD CHECK THE SOLENOID CONNECTORS AT THE FRONT OF THE TRANSMISSION FOR FRAYED OR MESSED UP WIRES, BE SURE TO ALSO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION POSITION SWITCH WIRING AS WELL, EITHER OF THOSE CAN CAUSE A PROBLEM.

please stop typing in all caps.

I'm an old guy all of 54 and my 3 kids are teens. The Celica convertible I bought for my 17 yr old daughter 2 years ago, and she loves it, except when it doesnt shift right. Now she says to sell it cause it needs alot of work and she cant afford to fix it up (tires, struts, body work). It runs good, but needs cosmetics.(about 140,000 miles) I know their aren't alot around..Any opinions on how much its worth in fair condition? Thanx

Is your daughter youngest or the eldest? If she's the eldest, it could be a good hand down car. Im not sure if it would be any cheaper on insurance. Mine has 188.6k right now. Still I dont wanna pass it to my brother lol.

I'm expecting to get at least twice more life out of it...but sadly, I don't know what age will do over time, and I think that'll be more of a factor...
