woww,,,
love the design, however the front needs a little more,,, more,, agressive in my opinion,, or at least on the sides,, the sides are missing something,, the front reminds me of those ugly new mazdas... dont you guys think? but i love that rear design though. whats with the boxer engine? cons pros or something... tried to look up info but could not find that much. if it is in the range $25000, $30000 i would buy it if they change the interior which i dont think its going to stay like that. specially the seats. i think that would be a reasonable price if they rated at 260+HP.. but we'll have to wait. About turbo,,, uhm,,, i really hope it comes with one,, but its america, economy sucks, gas price high,, i think they would have to tweek the engine a lot if they want to add turbo to it. at least in america. but i have my hopes high for this to happen well thats my 2 cents,, (it was more like a dollar  -------------------- |

hmmm the na 2.0L ej20 with dohc makes 190hp. With this new toyota head I'm guessing it should make a bit over 200. Remember thats over 100 hp/l on a na engine, which is impressive. Yes this sounds similar to beams but will be lighter due to an aluminum block and hopefully will have some more torque.

According to previous reports this was supposed to be geared to 50 year old clientele . With styling like this... I don't know. I just want to see a all wheel drive gt-4 version like promised but I can not wait 2+ years for it. For time being I am researching evo 9's and evo10's with prospect of buying one sometime in spring or summer.

The all wheel drive version would be a Subaru, as this is a Subaru-Toyota joint venture.
I don't see how on earth this is geared towards 50 year old clientele - that report sounds bogus. -------------------- |

I beg to God that they release the car just like that without changing much. Cars after 2003 slowed down on the modern look. They all look outdated. I was wondering when someone was going to make a futuristic looking car.

well the previous sketch showed a pontiac solstice look alike and just about every online publication has reported that they were planning a horsepower drop to 160kw.
If this indeed came as awd this would be a very sexy car to own. -------------------- Captain Pessimist

Everyone keeps complaining about the interior of this car.. This car will be on display at the Tokyo Auto Show. They kinda have to do something outrageous with it. I have no doubts that the interior will bear little semblance to this when the production model comes out. I'm guessing that the car will be aimed at the Civic Si as it's main competitor, although I think there should be a base model aimed at the Si and an upscale AWD turbo model aimed at the 6 cylinder Camaros. In my honest opinion, the FT-86 looks worlds better than the new Camaros do. But regardless of whether the price is at 20k like it's supposed to be or if it reaches 30k, I'd still like to have one. Also, just a guess, but if they are 20k, then I think we'll see them all over the place, like the Scion tC. And I hope to God this car can maintain a little dignity, and not be seen 500 times a day like the tC.

Anyone else catching a Cadillac vibe looking at the front of it?
And a Subaru boxer engine? Comon... how about letting Yamaha put something together for it? But, if it means Toyota will finally release something interesting, I won't argue too much. -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

i don't know about you guys but i am hoping that this will come at a fairly high price tag. why? because for the same reason that richee3 stated. i don't want this to be a car that i'll see everyday. i want it to be one of those cars that i'll notice from miles away and yell "look at ft-86!!" the same way i do for 6th gens.. but i'm sure Toyota is more inclined to sales and trying to make it affordable for the younger target market. if this does well, maybe cars like the LF-A will be put to production..

That way it's cheaper for me when I go to buy one. Who cares if there are about a bazillion of them on the roads, that just means that there's more replacable parts available and quite possibly larger aftermarket support. You don't see Civic guys crying because they're cheap and all over the place, do you? -------------------- '99 Celica GT - Sold

I would love to see this car with a Toyota emblem release in US, but I think it'll be a Scion, and I'll have to buy toyota emblems from Japan for it lol. -------------------- |

That video just sold me on the body; if they change up the taillights a little I'm completely for it pending horsepower/weight numbers.
I want a great blue color option. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

I'd like to see an interior like the last supra, wrapping the driver with the consoles, and with all the consoles angled towards the driver.
I also hope they'll eventually do a more agressive looking version with a drop top (aka tin top or twin top) and 4-wheel drive. This post has been edited by BloodyStupidDavey: Oct 13, 2009 - 3:33 PM -------------------- Davey
