A friend of mine told me something about a H22 powered 6g and I just had to Google it. Never found it but while looking I came across a Supra forum discussing which is better between the Integ and Celi. Pretty funny what people post, I'm a die-hard Honda enthusiast, not because of what I see on the streets but of what they do on professional circuits and events. But the idiots on that board remind me why I hate having one.
ummm let me just give you guys the link....... http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=532666 -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th Anni. Edition #461

It should be...
Honda Vs Toyota Acura Vs Lexus This is a fair discussion. I've thought about Honda power in a celica before... I think it'd be awesome. |

If you read it it's more talking about why people don't buy a celica and swap a 3sgte in it compared to owning a honda. Obviously the 3sgte would kill any honda out there but i think the reason is money. Honda's are cheaper and easier to maintain and do performance mods to.

Obviously the 3sgte would kill any honda out there but i think the reason is money. Honda's are cheaper and easier to maintain and do performance mods to. That was the original argument, but reading through there, I don't think a single person has any idea what they're even arguing about anymore. They are just trying to force their opinions on everyone else. It's funny, there's so much Honda love on a Supra forum... I guess all those kids with their beater Civics know what's good for them, even if they won't admit it. You don't sign up for a Supra forum if you have no love for a Supra. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. ^Thats my point.
It started out as a simple question and it was a pretty cool topic as well. But as you keep reading the topic gets way off topic and the Honda fan boys just start bashing on all of Toyota's 4cyc. The yota guy's made some good statements but those Honda guys are too hard headed. Main reason all those Honda's can push some much out of their engines is due to the fact of the huge amount of after market support. If we had as much support as they give Honda hell I think there would be a hell of alot of powered NA yota's out there. -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th Anni. Edition #461

^^^ That's all too true. Plus, Honda pushes performance a lot more than Toyota does. Every car Honda builds, it seems is built with an element of performance, similar to how Toyota builds every car with fuel economy in mind. That's why the Civic Si is still around, but the Celica died out (sales were a much, much larger factor, but the Si is still here.) Honda ATV's are different. Where other ATV manufacturers build their fourwheelers with performance in mind, Honda builds them on the premise of quality and rider comfort. I find it funny that Yamaha is one of Honda's top ATV competitors, and Yamaha built the motors in our cars, which were competition for the Civic. Back on topic though.. Honda pushes performance in their cars much more than Toyota does, and it shows.

You have to keep in mind that the 6th gen celica was also oriented towards females more so than males (the supra was the opposite). I still find it's styling to be pretty much be Unisex, but I think initially Toyota was hoping for different sales.
You also have to keep in mind that outside of us, and our amazingly awesome cars, a vast majority of the population viewed the 6th gen as the "ugly duckling" of the Celica line. The lack of sales versus the 5th gen also resulted in aftermarket companies considering other routes to make products for. Couple this with Toyota putting in "efficient" engines (5s, 7a) it didn't seem profitable by 3rd party companies to make products, even if people did buy them. Had Toyota thrown in the 3sge/3gste engine on USDM cars and marketed them towards younger males, everything would be different right now... However even with that being said, I thoroughly enjoy seeing a modded up celica much more than an integ. Integs are a dime a dozen, sure they push the 200hp boundaries much easier than our cars, but they have no soul, no personality. I'd rather get love from another celica owner, than "props" from just another integ owner.... -TC This post has been edited by razor7: Oct 15, 2009 - 11:02 PM -------------------- Live your life for yourself. i always found it funny how supra owners disown the celica; while we respect the supra... there is nothing wrong with the celica. it is a fun, good looking car! a supra is rwd, turbocharged, 6 cylinder and what not, but still respect your roots! a gt4 could do some serious damage to a supra!

Just because they are more popular, doesn't mean they are in any way better. Most people own a Honda because that is what their mom bought as her daily driver, and it eventually got handed down to junior who turned it into a street beast with cut springs, an intake, and an exhaust.
The real truth is that our 3sgte's are far better engines than anything the honda guys can swap in. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

why is that forum not moderated? original posted question is about the 94-99 celicas and why dont more people mod them...THEN on page 2 a guy posts a pic of a 5th gen celica...and it all goes downhill after that...i havent read the whole thing yet, but as far as i can tell (read all posts till page 9) it turns into a battle between alot of honda series motor vs. the 2zz which was found in the 7th gens...and those guys arent showing no toyota love there, i mean yeah...having a 7a motor sucks...but i still love it cause its a toyota...

Personally, I think a lot have to do with the looks. Not everyone can stand the 4 eyed Celicas, it requires taste. Honda cars on the other hand, looks very generic and very easy on the eyes for most people. Plus, the Celicas were way overpriced in the first place. So everyone buy Hondas and after 10, 15 years... the Celicas become rare as hell, parts stop producing and become rare as hell. And to be honest, stock USA Celicas ARE slow as hell.
Either way, I have a unique taste and I love the weird looking Celicas with a rich rally history that ended sadly. And I'm glad I found a forum filled with a bunch of people with the same love for this rare car. -------------------- |

I love my car. The 7A-FE is... nothing. But it's has NEVER failed or acted up on me once *knocks on wood* and gets pretty great gas mileage. The car itself is just sexy...I mean, there are some awkward angles to it, especially sometimes around the headlights...but that gorgeous ass more than makes up for it. Basically, I love what I drive. I barely ever see 6GC's, much less another car that looks like mine. Our cars are unique and I like that. AND, at least in my opinion, not much has to be done to a Celica's exterior to make it look great. I'm only lowering mine and adding some splitters to complement my side skirts, but other than that, not much will change.

You are referring to the 1/4 time of one forum member, vs hundreds if not thousands of honda owners who have attempted runs with varying turbo, suspension, tire, and not to mention driver setups. And not to mention we have the heaviest of all Celica's. Correct me if I'm wrong on that but I've heard that the 7g weighs in less then the 6g.
Also someone stated before that our headlights isn't something everyone likes. I was one of the many who didn't like it, but they grew on me and find it sexy now. I myself hate the fact that Honda really looked into the somewhat tuner/import scene and made their engines really tune-able and Toyota didn't. Well maybe Toyota did give it a try, but I think the after market support forgot and dropped any ideas they had for the Celica due to their price range and rareness of them and not to mention their really low powered engines.. Maybe if Toyota would of sold them at a lower price range or at least sent over the same engines that were put in the Celica's across sea we would have more Toyota's all over the place and also the fear of getting it stolen everyday like every Honda owner out there. Lol but that's also a thing I love. Our car's are taken as a joke and put down by everyone even other Yota owners. Noone ever expects anything from them and that's when the swaps come in and so long to that. Off topic kinda of. I agree and plus Honda drivers dream of driving other cars. See, I am all about Toyota, that I want to get my Celica going, even if I buy an MR2 Turbo. In fact, I think of it this way. Cost for vehicle. For the price of a Supra these days, you can convert your Celica into a GT-Four and perhaps more mods to equal the price of what you pay for the MKIV supra, because let's face it, that is the bad ass everyone dreams of, right? Take the cost of the Celica, or MR2 Even, and put money into them to equal the cost of a supra, and you got something that can spank the $#!T out of it. So that's how I see it. Anyways, back to the Honda guys. Yes, I think V-tec is quite awesome and is done better than any other car company has tried to copy and came out on bottom. Yet, isn't it funny how Honda guys can't figure out what engine to go with? My friend brought up an interesting point. He is a DSM guy, I am a Toyota guy, we know what engines of our car make that we love the most and what they are capable of and for him, it is the 4g63t, for me, it is 3sgte (which they use in the Top Secret Supra, hmmm... I wonder why? Perhaps... Better Displacement/weight distribution! That's why). But you notice Honda guys are like, I want LS engine, no I want LS-V! No, I want H22! Nah, I wan GSR. How about K20? Yeah K20. All those engines cannot be as good as the other, there has got to be one that is dominant over all. So that's just my point. I got Honda people in my Engine Overhaul class that see me rocking Toyota all day every day, and they always ask me if I want to sell my car because they want to buy it. So when I see people ditch the Celica for a civic, it kind of makes me laugh. This is exactly what my buddy told me the other day. Why don't you sell your piece of SH&^ purple car and buy a honda and make that a beast. I said i'd rather not get a honda because everyone has one of those damn things. I mean just on the way to school if I don't see a honda with an exhaust pigs must be flying. I can go weeks without seeing a celica with anything done to it. The celica is great because its unique and no one has it. So what if parts are hard to find, once you get them all together the celica is a beast that doesn't look like a go cart.
None the less honda guys will be honda guys and will think vtec will beat anything. -------------------- 2nd Gen 3s-gte.... It lives!
