I thought I seen one for sale that supposedly was 10more HP than the 3rd gen. -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204

After owning a Prelude Si and several Celicas, I have to say I prefer the Celica. The Prelude's steering felt numb, and the car sucked on gravel and off-road. Plus it got horrible gas mileage for a 2.3 litre that required premium. And the thing weighed in at over 3000 pounds, pretty heavy for a small car IMO.
Our Celicas, on the other hand, may not have the power but I feel like my car handles much better than any Civic or Prelude I've driven, on road or off, minus the new Civic Si's (one Honda I would own). But we all already know this -------------------- 1999 Celica GT

I have friends that love Civics. They think they are God's gift to mankind. But those guys can't get enough of my car. I have another friend that did the RB20 swap into an S13, and is now building an S14. He loves the tranny in my car. He loves the gearing and how short the throws are, and I don't even have a short throw shifter. The 6gc has something to offer everyone. I've been asked if my car was an '08 model Celica before, and everyone else I know cays they like the 6th gen more than any other body style.
Want a good laugh? This is a stereotypical Honda guy. Seems like every guy who obsesses with Honda is exactly like this. Prepare to laugh until your sides hurt. EDIT: The driving scenes in that video were made at a Toyota dealership. Just so you know. ^ I'd like to see his 1/4 run...10's? Granted, it might be fast...but they look like crap to me. Honestly, that thing has no styling. And (ignore this if it has anything to do with performance that I don't know about) I love how his rims don't match.

Sorry but I would disagree with you on that. My favorite Honda happens that hatchback (eg) , after being driven in 5 of those with all different powertrains I must say I love them. They feel like go-karts. Real light and low to the ground.
I agree on our Celica's looks though. I guess no ones ever seen a 6g with a lip kit or GT4 spoiler around here since everyone thinks its a newer model that I crashed. Way more looks then my cousin hatchback or the rest of his crew get. Lol they all say they want one since they love the looks but say their too weak (since they don't do any research on it) so they won't get one. -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th Anni. i must say that i am a celica guy at heart but i own a civic 1990 hatch. and i must say i love them both, im not a speed kind of a guy and yes i belive the hatc is sooo much lighter than the civic but i just love the look of these cars. my civic has a d16a6 swap in it and from what i hear its ok in power but do some mods and its even better but like i said im not a speed kind of a guy but the way gas is here in Ct i need all the help i can get and both cars are great i just wish i could like split in 2 and drive them both at the same time. i love my celi and civic.

Yeah, Celica doesn't have the power of the Prelude. They Prelude's F22 has 135 hp, about the same as a 5sfe, but the H23 in the Si has 160 hp at the crank and the H22 Vtec puts out 190 hp at the crank. I don't know which your friend had, but I'm guessing it was an F22 and/or he doesn't know how to drive. And remember the Celica is a bit lighter, but not enough to compensate for the power difference. -------------------- 1999 Celica GT

I'm going to step out on a limb here and voice my opinion on this controversy, since well, that seems to be the going trend. Honestly, it's all in taste. If you want a cheap reliable car that is very easy to mod, the Civic, or any Honda for that fact, is your choice. It is way to easy to build a Honda. And I'm sorry, but the "Cheap, Reliable, Fast...pick two" quote does not apply to Hondas. I can attest to this. I have a fully built EJ1 Civic that is also my daily driver. Next spring when its fully tuned I will be laying down 380-400 whp. Hondas just accept mods soo much nicer than Toyotas do. Ask Jim, ask Shannon, ask Brent or anyone else who has a 5S-FTE or 3S-GTE. Toyotas are tempermental bitches when it comes to tweaking their performance. This is also why I have a 3S-GTE project sitting in the garage, and has been for 4+ years, and my Honda got built in less than 6 months.
I can see everyones point of view from a neutral standpoint. I feel, and this is MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION, but I feel that if your an automotive enthusiast, you should be open minded towards everything in the performance world. I know Hondas seem to be Toyotas competition, but don't knock the Honda guys. They put time and money into their cars just like everyone on these forums to with their Celicas. To me, that deserves respect. Just my $.02 -------------------- www.tweakdperformance.com contact@tweakdperformance.com |

And (ignore this if it has anything to do with performance that I don't know about) I love how his rims don't match. Lol. I forgot he made the claim that his Civic runs 10's. It can not and will not run a 10. He runs that in the 1/8, not the 1/4. We don't have a 1/4 mile drag strip around here. The mismatched rims, he can't afford anything better so he buys what he can and puts them on there. He never has any given rim longer than a month. And the stock Honda wheels looked best on that car. His car only has a D16B in it. It's 130ish hp. It'll never run 10's, like other Honda motors. But I can attest that his Civic is much lighter and faster than my Celica. But who cares? His car looks and sounds like crap. Any time I go somewhere with him, I'm the one that gets all the attention. And you don't have to go fast to look good. When I see a nice car, I respect it a lot more if the person cares to go slow. When somebody is ripping through town, I immediately assume bad things about them, even if they might be the nicest person in the world. And that is my problem with Hondas. Every Honda owner I've ever met* is a complete moron that things they have to floor it everywhere they go just so people can hear their Ebay exhaust, and they think they get mad "props" from everyone around, when in reality, it's quite the opposite. I'm quite content with the fact that anyone that swaps a K20 into their Civic will be faster than my GT. I'm just grateful that I don't have the "floor it to be as loud as possible and try to make everyone think I have friends" mentality. *We don't have good Honda owners here. Only the guys that saw F&F when they were 12 and want to be just like Paul Walker. I can't rip on every guy that owns a Honda. Goferris and boosted185 seem like really cool guys. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. I was gonna say, that can't be the in the quarter. But that car is also an example of why I'm not a fan of most Hondas...like you said, the rims don't match...but just look at the peeling paint on the front bumper. Honestly, I can respect wanting to go fast...but I'm gonna build my exterior first and then focus on the engine. I am just not a fan of cars that look crappy. I'm completely the opposite. Well before I had my 6g anyway. I could car less about exterior as long as I had a decent built engine in the bay. But I guess I was a more go and less show guy before. I guess it's a "before" factor due the my ST being so slow and the only thing it really has is looks so why not right? I must admit I'm obsessed with how my car looks now, I just love it. Yea I'm not the fastest but meh, every time someone see's it they stare at it for a while since it's not something you see everyday.
On another note I found it quite funny when my cousin got his first hatchback and I was so impressed by it since I had never seen it. But as soon as he got it he goes "I would never see this car but once I got one, now their everywhere". Now I feel the same due to I never would see them before but now I see at least 4 a day going to school or while working on my car at my cous. garage. Can't wait to drive my car for the first time, worked on it for so long and everytime I look at it I feel like I'm blow the 180mph mark in less then 3seconds cause of how fast it looks -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th Anni. You know what? We can argue Toyota vs. Honda all day long. Both have their ups and downs, so I'll leave it at this: I drive a slow girl's car, and I'm proud of it. Celica FTW. Personally, I think a lot have to do with the looks. Not everyone can stand the 4 eyed Celicas, it requires taste. Honda cars on the other hand, looks very generic and very easy on the eyes for most people. Plus, the Celicas were way overpriced in the first place. So everyone buy Hondas and after 10, 15 years... the Celicas become rare as hell, parts stop producing and become rare as hell. And to be honest, stock USA Celicas ARE slow as hell. Either way, I have a unique taste and I love the weird looking Celicas with a rich rally history that ended sadly. And I'm glad I found a forum filled with a bunch of people with the same love for this rare car. AMEN!!that is the reason I got my celica in 99 when the whole stupid rice trend honda craze was really full force, no one really had celicas everyone wanted the same stupid accord or civic, no originality, and indeed generic looks. And yes, the parts are rare and the cars are rare, that's what makes us so different and so much better and personally I don't care about being the fastest car in town, I don't race and honestly I don't feel like getting my car impounded and demolished as punishment. Majority of us are here for the love of the car not to race at a speedway or do some stupid street racing that is so lame anyways. LOL ha ha hey you sexy Celica ! -------------------- The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of
